Plans for the weekend, PLANT. I have been way behind due to weather and life, I expect to try to catch up all in one weekend. Oh, year through in a 3rd b-day party and 1st communion at church, I won't sit down the whole weekend. So far I planted 4 types of beets, 3 types of carrots, 6 types of radishes, 4 kinds of greens, 600 feet of potatoes 3 different varieties, dill, put up second string on the Florida Weave on tomatoes in hoop buildings, started to weed the bindweed problem in one hoop building, water seedlings, spread compost, and finish mowing the yard. What still needs to be done, plant 60 peppers in hoop building, build trellis and plant 30 cucumbers in hoop building Need to be done ASAP, I have some cucs dampening off DARN!, finish weeding, fix a small hoop building so I can pull the plastic over it ASAP and if any time is left, put out soaker hoses. Wow, work on monday will be a time of rest! Oh, wait lessons for class aren't finished either..........

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope yours was blessed. DH talked me into going out to a buffet, which I wasn't too wild about. For me, Thanksgiving had always been a family day and my extended family is large, happy, bustling and noisy and I love it all. This year, we had only my son joining the two of us therefore the buffet. At the last minute, daughter-in-law to be (as of a week from this coming Saturday) unexpectedly had the day off and came along. Turned out the four of us had a lovely dinner with traditional holiday fare. Not too big of a selection but absolutely delicious. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, corn, a delicious sweet potato dish, and cranberry sauce, followed by a selection of chocolate mousse and pumpkin, apple, or pecan pie! Very nice :-)

Well I'm not as organized about as many of you seem to be about it, but I think I'll be devoting my quilting time this Spring to UFOs. I've been taking a few quilt classes during the last 2 yrs. I've had my own quilts I've been working on around that & before that. My design wall has gone from 5 layers of quilts on it, to (just, sigh) 3 layers thick. It'd be great to get back to those. I've been out of work for the last couple of months, so aside from looking for a job, I've been doing a lot of quilts. I had a color class for 4 sessions, generated 5 tops I need to sandwhich & quilt. Just had a class in French Braid (Chevron) technique, that's yielded a few large samples I'd like to trim up & bind. Then there's a partially done Japanese Puzzle quilt it'd be great to resume. Also, an old project of string diamonds which I'd assembled from scraps I'd swatched as a work study student at a budding textile/design research museum (a long time ago). Actually they're antique scraps from fabrics dated 1880s - 1940s-50s, should be nice if I ever get to it. I'd paper-pieced it from quilt magazine instructions (had no idea what I was doing). Lastly, Santa (my quilting patron) just gave me the funds for a digital camera, the lack of which he knew was holding me back quilting-wise. So I'll wait 'til I'm back to work, then will be super excited to buy & learn to use a digital camera. Lots of good, happy quilting plans. Happy holidays everybody!

perhaps your own post.. with more facts and we can help you I pink ... in my z5 MI.. there is a world of difference between the hardiness of a redbud.. and a foo foo dogwood ... so i doubt the fact that whatever is 'weeping' is the issue .... congrats ck ... i suspect you wood fence.. cut the blistering winter winds ... which MIGHT be the down fall of your redbud ... in my MI ... winter winds are from the NW ... and based on the other forums you list .. you probably have the same ... btw.. z5 is about half the US and wildly divergent as to winter... i would be curious as to big city name ... the fence might actually be a problem... with an evergreen... as winter sun might cause issues ... heat build up in winter.. but i digress ... in this case.. you have no leaves to save or be injured in winter .. go figure ... ken
