LOL! What an astute observation:) And from G.K.Chesterton no less. I think I might never get anything done, but would simply lie in bed until late morning and draw on the ceiling. It would have to be an erasable ceiling, I guess. But you can buy large sheets of a specially coated board that's light and you can draw on and erase. I think this is a very cool idea.

Oh gee!! do I ever remember that Ed Sullivan Show in 1956. Everyone was agog with anticipation. We and a couple of other young couples had a party just to watch Elvis perform on that show. None of us had ever seen anything like it in public. The advance publicity had made such a big to-do about his sexy gyrations and whether or not Ed Sullivan would allow the viewing audience to actually see him do his thing, live, on stage, in person, WOW!! He didn't even do any back to front movements.....it was all side to side. Today, that wouldn't be considered sexy.

When I see what passes for music, dancing, and public sex now, I wonder what influence did the acceptance of Elvis have. At least, he had a good voice.

LOL! PB, I know what you mean. Of course, everyone watched Ed Sullivan on Sunday night, but when Elvis started his gyrations, my mother sent me from the room! How the world has changed.

I remembered reading that for the last decade of his life Henri Matisse was ill and often created paper cutouts using scissors while lying in bed. In fact, he first began painting while recuperating from an operation...soon gave up his law career. Those later works have such joyous movement...hard to believe they came from a man in a wheelchair or in bed. josh
