Look what these plants drive one to do!
I've posted so many times about this brat, you must be sick of them by now. Yes, we're talking about my loverly Catasetum saccatum again.
Here's the deal once again: This plant has always started new growth late - usually early June. This year it's still sitting here growing new roots, but no new growth. Last year, it started new growth sometime in the summer, grew all winter, spiked in Jan, bloomed in April, spiked again, leaves finally started to yellow in June. Right now it's out of the pot, but with everything intact - basically just a lump of sphag full of roots including new root growth. The sphag is dry, but not bone dry all the time. I do give it a shot of water every other day or so, but it dries out quickly since it's summer.
My question: Should I just accept the fact that these plants are totally unpredictable and will do their thing when they want to do it? I just sit around, waiting and puffing on the crack pipe until it makes up it's mind? Is that what I do?
