Hortico had listed it in their catalog back in the mid-90's, but of course, when I tried to order it they were sold out. Never saw it again. When Mike mentioned having seen it last yr, I told him how I had wanted one and so, when he got the cuttings, he offered one to me. The rest he is selling to others who are interested.

If it has a bench with it, you may find the manufacturer tag underneath the seat. My mom's vanity was part of a 5 piece bedroom set and the only id was under the bench. But they were mass produced and I'm not sure knowing the manufacturer and date will alter the value much.

The fire or coals would be built in the removable pan, not the base if it were a brazier, Linda. Yes, flower pots do come in copper and brass even if it is toxic to plants. Ask me how I know, I've run a floral business for quarter of a century. And if it were a cachepot there is no reason for drainage. It's just a decorative place to stick the real pot. Yes, it does look like one of those made in India for export items. They're often meant to be more decorative than functional. We've had this baptismal font discussion on the antique forum before. Most private estates don't have spare fonts tucked away for a rainy day ;-) Most fonts have some sort of religious symbolism on them as well. This is about as secular as it comes. Staci.............we're all just guessing at this point because it's pretty a pretty bizarre (uhm novel) piece. I have seen a couple similar ones online identified as baptismal fonts, but one dealer was honest enough to admit it was for want of a better description and asked if anyone could really identify what it was, to please let them know. It's some sort of artistic piece and may be little more than a stand meant to be used to display something else on....that's why I asked for dimensions.

Look at the Halo website. That particular "can" may be used with several different trims. If you click on the trims, you will see the maximum wattage that can be used with each trim. The "ice light" and the "metal baffle" can be used with 60 Watt PAR 16 bulbs. The "coilex" can be used with 50 Watt PAR 20 bulbs. I think that the PAR bulbs seem to give out more actual light than the regular bulbs. You can also buy a "socket extension". One end screws to the lightbulb and the other end then screws into the can. That will make the bulb less recessed (but it will also glare more). I hope that between the 50 or 60 watt PAR light bulbs and/or the extensions, you can solve your problem. Good luck!
