The Snake & the Chipmonk (funny not gross)

I was once again moving rocks and digging dirt around the pond. There was a medium-sized garden-variety snake sunning itself on a warm rock across the pond:

A chipmonk ran past me and around in back of the pond. It jumped up on the edge of the pond just behind the snake.

IT STOPPED - IT SNIFFED THE SNAKE - IT'S LITTLE EYES ALMOST POPPED OUT OF THEIR SOCKETS - THEN IT DID A BACKFLIP OFF THE EDGE OF THE POND OUT OF SIGHT.

In a few seconds it's little head peeked up and it looked at the snake, ducked down then peeked again. The snake never even seemed to be aware of the chipmonk.

Boy I sure wish I'd had my camera running when that happened.
