plant for dark bathroom
Comments (7)Is sounds as if it is quite dark in that location. It may work better to purchase two plants. Put one on the bench, and the other in a location with better growing conditions. Then switch the two plants every week or so. Snake plants have a fairly slow growth rate, and their upright foliage won't droop during the dark period. But they won't go into the decline that would happen if you left a single plant under insufficient-light conditions for too long....See MoreWhat kinda snake slithers in my outside Thai bathroom?
Comments (6)I pulled the bottom paragraphs from two sources including Wikepedia. Basically I've always heard King Cobras as being reclusive, shy, and a little less likely to habit densly populated areas and more likely to live in forest. Now other cobras and kraits are commonly found in urban areas throughout Asia and are responsible for numerous fatalities. I would think farmers would run more risk of confronation than city dweller. Despite the King Cobra's fearsome reputation and deadly bite, it is a shy and reclusive animal, avoiding confrontation with humans as often as possible.[9] There are other venomous snakes within this species' range that are responsible for a more fatal snake bites than the King Cobra such as the Monocled cobra, Russell's Viper, and Banded Krait.] Characteristics: Although it is the largest venomous snake in the world and it has a disposition to go with this honor, it causes relatively few bites on humans. It appears to have a degree of intelligence. It avoids attacking another venomous snake for fear of being bitten. It feeds exclusively on harmless species. The female builds a nest then deposits her eggs. Lying close by, she guards the nest and is highly aggressive toward anything that closely approaches the nest. Its venom is a powerful neurotoxin. Without medical aid, death is certain for its victims. Habitat: Dense jungle and cultivated fields....See MoreDoes this sound right?
Comments (5)The Plumber is correct. The post clearly states the house is 80yrs old and no doubt the line in question is original to the house, therefore we can be assured that the DWV system pre-dates ABS or PVC piping. In those days lines 2" or greater were generally cast iron pipe, while 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" branch lines were galvanized iron pipe, copper pipe or possibly lead pipe. The did not have DWV grade fittings for galvanized iron pipe or copper pipe, therefore the bends were made with pressure type fittings, which have a sharp angle rather than the curved radius angles common to DWV fitting. Regardless of what kind of tool you use, when rodding those type of lines you can only go to the first 90deg bend, but the snake cannot make the sharp 90deg bend of the pressure fittings. The immediate solution would then be to open the wall at the offending joint, cut the pipe and snake the remaining portion of the line, then reconnect the pipes using PVC or ABS with a sanitary elbow and Fernco's, however you must keep in mind that the same problem can occur at the next angle fitting on that line. Given that you will have to open the wall anyway, the permanent solution would be to replace all the concealed pipe with ABS or PVC....See MoreBathroom Sink pipe to wall broken
Comments (1)The pipe to the wall looks like rotted out galvanized steel pipe that was lead & oakum sealed into a cast iron fitting. You are probably going to need to remove everything back to the cast iron, then use a 'donut' to put in a new nipple from the cast iron. The horizontal run from the trap to that will use a ring nut on the end of the new pipe to seal the arm of a p-trap. The trap then attaches to the arm and the drain from the sink. It is pretty likely that the sink drain is also rotted out and will need to be replaced. You can do the work in chrome plated brass if it show, or PVC if it is hidden (or you do not care about the PVC showing). The donut is likely to be found only at a plumbing supply house since they come in many sizes depending on the inner and outer dimension of the hub they need to fit and the pipe that enters....See Moreloves2read
