I'm trying to post this with a better pic...hope this one helps. Note: Picture was taken in the rain.

Greetings all,

I live on a farm in rural Minnesota and found this patch in a wooded area near my home. I was wondering if anyone here could help me to confirm the identification of these plants.

All have 3 to 6 shoots coming off each plant with 5 serrated leaves on each. They appear to have bloomed already or are about to bloom. I have seen clusters of red berries in the fall. The wooded area they are in is primarily poplars and a few oaks.

I was wondering if they may possibly be ginseng or sarsaparilla?

These plants are anywhere from 12" to 24" in height. I also believe you are able to determine the age of the plants by the rhizome on each...which has many rings. I counted 75 rings on one plant I removed from an area that is usually mowed.

Thank you!!!
