Happy Holidays frfom my PITA cat

If trying to get the lights on the tree isn't bad enough MoJo decided he needed to 'help'. So I tied him up, he didn't mind a bit and just laid there. I sould have went with the scotch tape! Darn cat!

I think I'd leave him like that year 'round, fishy... make it easier to see him coming :)

Great picture -- MoJo looks like he's saying, "Why are you taking MY picture???" :)

Same to you - though I know I am one day late. Hope your Christmas/Hannukka was great. I was in town this weekend, and it was a lot colder than the 70 degrees in So. CAL. What a mess the traffic and airport were, but everyone was politer than usual! The gamblers didn't even act like there was a holiday going on! I was happy I got to wear my heavy jacket. And thankfully, I didn't have to go into a shopping mall except once. Anyway, my parents' garden in North Vegas isn't too active, but their lawn is still very green, as are all the landscaped trees. The gardenia, rose, and her orchids in 15 Gallon containers are taking the 30 degree nights very well. The hibiscus is fried and will be replaced. But the Arabian jasmines should be okay. Still haven't planted the apple tree, but I will. My sister's backyard is actually 40 x 30. I thought it was smaller than that. So starting in March, I'll begin putting in some plants and a small lawn near that guest house. Can't wait, and I have to finish before the heat starts to fizzle me out. Here's to a great garden for everyone in 2007.

holiday:stress or happiness?

I have heard, since college days, from people who get stressed during the holidays. I never experienced it until this Christmas. (My two adult stepdaughters are making drama of nothing, both wanting to be the center of our attention.) It made me not look forward to the family gathering on Christmas Eve. However, they did not show up for the family party which made for one of the best family gatherings ever. Both my SDs have the same mental illness (bipolar) and have always been "sullen." We often feel they do this to get attention. No one in the family takes the bait. The truth is that my SDs are no joy to be around, period. My neices seem to be well-adjusted though they too have been through the divorce of their mom and dad. These girls are the same age as my SD's. They are fun to be around and don't make drama where there is none. They have a great ability to laugh at themselves (that doesn't come from either their Mom or Dad or either step parents). My SDs cannot laugh at themselves at all, ever. As I said, I have heard others complain about the impending holidays as if it were a dreaded event. I never understood that until this holiday. I am glad it turned out so well. And it made me realize it was because my SDs were not present. In thinking about the other people in my past who dreaded the holidays -- I realize they were as sullen as my SDs. So maybe those who dread the holidays are the reason they dread the holidays. They make it miserable for themselves (and others). Clearly, I don't think dreading the holidays is rational. This is a time for celebration and merriment. Perhaps it is also that I am an optimist not a pessimist? Or it could be because I was raised in Europe where Christmas is not the big deal it is here in USA AND gifts there are kept to a minimum and always MADE by hand. (Pastries, birdfeeders, paintings, pottery, drawings, knitted or crocheted scarves, hats, slippers, etc.) The emphasis is on faith, family, friends and food. In that order. I think it is simply rational to enjoy the holidays. Anything else seems irrational to me. Other comments?

In my heading I wrote... would you buy again and are you happy with the quality. This is an update on the kids Splendid brand tee shirt. No, I would not buy again. I think thirty some dollars for a kids Tee is pricey. I did it though because I wanted a more substantial cotton. I mean, I don't know if this is a developing 9yr old or not and didn't want flimsy see- thru-ish. It came wadded up in a bag and although cute it is a ripoff for the price. I could have gone to Old Navy and spent $7.00. Cute but over priced.

GREAT pic, Fishy! And GREAT cat! Maybe I'll try that with mine, since I have GREAT health insurance. :D

Last year, someone posted a link to a site with pics of cats in Xmas trees. I wish my cat would play with ornaments, etc. She's become a Grumpus McGee in her old age, though.

In hind sight I sould of used the blinking set. I wonder if that would have messed with his head a little more?

Brenda, are you crazy? I swear everytime I turn around I have to chase him away from the tree. The smaller tree (5ft)
that I have set up in the family room he has knocked over twice already. He uses the railing as his launch pad and attacks it at the top. The larger tree its the decorations he is after. I've managed to rescue most of them before he did damage, only one glass ball has been broken from being batted into a table leg.

yep! that is why it was a few years for a tree in my house! a seven yr old cat that still had the energy of a 7 month old!

very cute! just think of all the needed stimuli MoJo is getting! (hopefully not electrical stimuli!)

Your punctuation is just fine, FTM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL @ stimuli, but only because the cat didn't really get electrocuted)

I know, Fishy, the grass is always greener. Or the tree is...or something. I guess if my Pookie wasn't scared of the tree, and she kept trying to kill the invading ornaments, I wouldn't be so eager about cleaning up ornament guts. :D

A handful of our ornaments are the home-made kind, from back when the children where in kindergarten, and they weigh a ton and are indestructible (obviously - since it's now twenty four years later). These are the ones we hang on the lowest branches for the pets to enjoy. And to smack around with their waggy tails.

And we used to put the tree IN the playpen in the old days. We had a very under-bright Irish setter then...

Hey, you may have came up with a new and improved lotion. Wouldn't that smell just heavenly?!!!!!!! They already have essential oils from everything else under the sun...why not cilantro?!!!!!!!!!!! Wait a minute...now...If you patent this stuff, make sure you share the profits! :)

could you imagine the boost in profits for salsa producers? smelling all that cilantro would make me hungry for chips.

I am wondering how many of the gifts I just wrapped and put under the tree are going to stay that way. Hope nobody minds if they are bowless, have chewed on corners and a few holes in the paper.

FTM and poo maybe a nice cilantro lime scented candle!

Fishy, what a great idea. I like it...a lot.
I think if there were no other spices, herbs, etc on this earth, other than cilantro, I would be just fine. lol

Mojo is a beautiful cat but I just love cats. Since I have 6 cats that think they are 2 year old toddlers I am keeping the Great room glass french doors closed where the Christmas tree is. All my cats love the tree and paper wrappings. Some of them love to shred boxes and paper. Ha! Yes, I have spoiled their fun and all they can do is look at the pretty decorated tree through the glass window doors. Heehee!
