Hose end sprayers + low water pressure

My hose end sprayer works horrible. And I am sure it is because we have low water pressure.

Is there a particular sprayer that will work with low pressure. I get a great flow out of mine but it will only go out 2-3 feet.

It is such a sad sight. lol

How long is your hose and what diameter hose do you have? Are you using a "flat" hose or a pre-coiled hose?

Hi Carey...if you are on town/city water lines your water pressure should be high enough to provide a good spray from your hose end. If your on your own well you can adjust your system to boost your water pressure. If as dchall says... if you don't find any obstructions to prevent good pressure then I would consider installing a pressure boosting pump. Northern Tool has a large variety of pumps...check them out. Franklin

Have you looked into a new pump for your sprayer? If you are new to this and would like professional advice, there is a contact link on this website. Faucet sprayer for low water pressure house

We are getting a new kitchen (actually moving the kitchen) and i suspect the low water pressure we are experiencing now will not improve. We now have a grohe sprayer faucet and it dribbles when i engage it - not a very strong spray and i suspect its because of the low water pressure in the house. Can anyone recommend a kitchen faucet with sprayer that works well even with low water pressure? I'm looking at pulldowns mostly. Thanks!

Using hose-end sprayer for 5-1-1?

Has anyone attempted this? I've gotten to where I have plants in large containers of 5-1-1 (I'm also trying gritty mix this year), and when I want to do Foliage Pro feedings, refilling and remixing my 2 gallon watering can 20 times and it's taking forever. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, what is a good brand of sprayer to use? Secondly, how do you properly calibrate it, and get it to release the right amount of solution evenly, and finally, doesn't the GPM flow of the water it's self have anything to do with it? I have pretty high water pressure. Or do you use a restricter in the sprayer to keep it no greater than a certain amount?

How far the water will flow from the nozzle of any hose end sprayer depends on the design of that hose end sprayer much more than whether you have good water pressure of not. I have one hose end sprayer that will only spray a couple of feet away and another that will reach out 10 to 12 feet and still another that will spray a 40 foot stream.
So what was yours designed to do?

Hi kimmsr...an assortment of hose end sprayers...do ya wear them all holstered up on yer belt like six-shooters...:-) All the ones I've ever had shoot a lengthy stream...or fan shape with a special attachment...:-) Franklin

No need to. They are kept in a cabinet in the garage until I need one and then I get that one. Every "garen shop" I have ever been in has a wide assortement of sprayers, form hose end to pump, all one needs to do is look.

Hi kimmsr...I have one hose end sprayer...two pump sprayers...small and large...and a metering device that I use when watering my yard and gardens...adds fertilizer and other things to my hose at a preset amount...which then goes to my impulse waterer. Franklin

The hose end sprayer is made to mix in powdered ferts like miracle grow. It has a shower head on it, I purchased it to spray tea. I put the tea in and it didnt even make it 3 feet. lol I tried it empty with the same results.

I am on city water and I use a 50 or 75 foot hose depending on the front or back yard. It is not a flat hose. Precoiled? I coil it when I am not using it, I am not sure what you mean by precoiled. Sorry for sounding ignorant on that one.

I will go out and buy a different one to see if it is the sprayer, but we really dont have the greatest water pressure anywhere else in the house.

Can you put one of those pressure boosters on if you have city water?

Hi Carey...kimmsr is the hose end sprayer pro. check with him on models and types...:-)
If your buying water from a company you need to check with them and find out why your water pressure is low. If your at the end of the water line the water pressure could be low because of that. It could be an obstruction of some kind between your house and the main water line. I'm not a plumber so I can't say for sure about installing a pressure boosting pump in your case. It would be worth checking into. Franklin

That Miracle Gro sprayer is designed to have a limited spray, short distance. Ortho, and a couple of other companies, make one that will spray further out and if you really want reach Ortho, and some other manufacturers have a hose end sprayer designed to reach 40 to 50 feet. How far the sprayer will reach is determined by the design and what it is meant to do.
