Well George, I've never been known for my finicky taste. I'll eat pretty much anything except hominy or beets! lol

Having said that, I am quite partial to frozen dinners because I absolutely hate to cook. The Weight Watchers meatless lasagna is pretty good. I think it's Healthy Choice that has a few actual meals as opposed to just frozen entrees. I seem to recall a breaded fish cutlet with veggies and a very tasty fruit cobbler.

I realize you are the last person who needs to be watching his calories right now. So if you find one of these you really like maybe you could have a couple of them for dinner.

Gandle, it sounds like you're doing well. You have people looking out for you and you are also looking out for yourself.

Finding my desire to cook is lessening as I *mature* -- :>) -- frozen dinners are in our freezer. DH and I prefer Healthy Choice; the sodium content is consistent and reasonable and the meals are pretty good--on the whole. The fish dish mentioned is one we like, too, especially when I make some tartar sauce to go on top.

Healthy Choice and some of the others made by Stauffer are pretty good, at least they are edible, I keep some around if I can find them on sale, just for whenI don't feel like cooking, though generally I cook my own and make up the leftovers to freeze.
There are so many things that can't be cooked in single portions.

That's where lunchmeats and leftovers come in handy. LOL. If you ever find a palatable frozen dinner let us know. As far as I'm concerned they just keep getting worse. It's just as easy to throw on an omelete.

I buy quit often the Hormel Meat Dishes, doctor the gravy and cook my own sides, leftovers gets frozen for the next time my husband don't know if he is going to eat or not.
Most times I have in the freezer a Bertolli dinner for myself, make all of it, divide it in 3 parts and freeze the two I don't need for the next time.
Had to grin about the chemo and cheese sandwich. During my chemo (usually 5 to 6 hours), we were given lunch. After a while the dietican did not even ask me anymore what I wanted, just said "as usual?" Yes, grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, everything else tasted yuck.

Freezer bags are getting more popular with me. Ham and bean soup or just the ham sliced, frozen and fixed with eggs. Have one more bag of pulled pork to fix.

We have been getting the Marie Calendar dinners on sale frequently for some time, good for a quick cheap meal just a bit shy of enough for me and a bit salty. I like the fish and rice one.

anneliese_32, I agree, a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup is the ultimate comfort food.
Don_socal, I'm with you about the freezer bags. I prepare and cook a lot of meals and put them in freezer bags. I prefer my own frozen food. That's fast food for us.

Those steamer meals--taste great---feel guilty because it involves two plastic pieces--strainer/dish.

This stuff is just right tummy-filling-wise, for me these days.
Hate to cook--not enough time.
Will make a good pot roast/ spinach lasagne/ WONDERFUL lentils w/ chicken & whatever thrown in for family meals.
As long as I can throw it in the oven or the electric roaster, I'll cook it....

Lean Cuisine has three quasi-oriental things, a "Ginger Stir Fry," "Sesame Stir-Fry" and "Peanut Chicken."

The chicken is extruded, the pasta is blah and the vegetables not much better.

But mix in a teaspoon or so of Chinese hot chile sauce or Sriracha and they give a warm glow when you eat them and for some time thereafter.

DH likes TV dinners if there aren't any home-made ones in the freezer. Marie Callendar and one of the Lean Cuisine. I'm no help as to which are best since I find all of them over-salted and/or totally lacking in flavor. He came home with some from Banquet (they were on sale for $1) and although the vegs were unseasoned, they tasted reasonably fresh; the meats weren't too fakey and the sauces were surprisingly good (BBQ rib-like and salisbury steak-like). Served with an additional side of broccoli, the meal was okay, fast (6 minutes), and not expensive.

Good ones? Nope. they all taste icky to me, like a chemistry experiment gone wrong. Thats why I make my own frozen dinners, also called leftovers or planned doubles. Make them, wrap them or Foodsaver them, label and freeze.

But I am glad you are feeling well enough to be picky about your meals.
