I am on a half acre lot in the Chicago area. I'm wanting to get an elite KBG going in my yard, but I'm not sure if I can.
The lawn is 15 years old and we moved here 3 years ago. I'm not completely sure what type of grass I have, but I assume it is a KBG/Rye mix as that seems to be the norm around here? I don't know what sort of program the previous owners followed, but I started putting down milorganite this year.
My front yard almost always looks better than my backyard. Front is nice and green and the back is a lot more whitish/yellowish. Is it possible the front yard was sodded with a higher quality grass and the back was contractor grade seed? Would that even be a factor 15 years later?
Will I have a problem establishing an elite KBG cultivar if in fact there is rye grass in the yard?
