Banana flowers are falling off. HELP
Comments (3)There should be some already that formed at the top of the bunch, after a few rows of those, all the others will fall off because they are just male flowers. If you did not get any of the first (female) flowers to form into fruit then it may be a nutritional issue, but if you fed the plant well thru-out its life there should not be a problem. Check to see if the first bananas that formed are swelling or at least not falling off....See Moremy female pumpkin flowers are falling off!!!
Comments (1)Hi again, its my first time growing pumpkins too and I'm really hoping to get it right so I understand your concern. I've done a ton of research and I'd love to help you if I can. As I said before, I would definitely get your vine back on the ground and be sure that it has contact with nice, healthy soil to reroot. I know watching the female flowers die off can be upsetting but often pumpkin growers pull off the female flowers until the vine is very sturdy and 8-10 feet long to ensure larger pumpkins so it might not be a bad thing (I used to hate watching my lemon tree drop fruit but really it is just the plant doing what it needs to do to produce great fruit!) Anyhow, would you mind telling me, how long are the vines on your pumpkin plants?...See MoreBaby pumpkins turn yellow and fall off

Comments (15)actually, they probably will not ripen indoors, unless thee is at least some yellow on the skin of the fruit. (supposedly over 7 percent yellow is needed) obviously, you can try, also, some people use them green, and make a type of cole-slaw - salad green papaya salad / Som Tum https://www.google.com/search?q=green+papaya+salad -- i fight this every year, trying to get ripe fruit before winter. i am in New Orleans (zone 9) if i protect the tree with frost cloth, and plant it very close to the house (south-side), it will come back in spring, and i get 2 - 3 months of fruit in the fall. then...' i still have to compete with the critters. they even took a fruit off the tree when i put a sock around it... LOL i am guessing my neighbor with find a sock in his yard somewhere... 2 plants next to the house, with evergreens on the side i chop the top few inches a couple times a year when young to keep them short....See More- 18 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
