Omg, how horrible! How'd that happen??

Oh no! Anything truly truly damaged? I hope that it was more of a mess than real destruction and loss. Let us know-

Was it a windstorm? a dog chasing something? or a destructive person? I'd really like to know.

Thank you all for feeling my pain. The culprit causing all this is wind.
I had a few broken spikes, damaged leaves and a lot of repotting to do... nothing serious. Anyway, it is Spring now so repotting should be ok.
If you are going to put your plants outside... be mindful that wind can cause a lot of damage if they are not tied down.

This may sound stupid, but I'm glad it wasn't a creature, or malice. Sorry about the damage, but glad it wasn't serious.

Wind gets me every year here at least once, "tornado alley". What I dread most is hail. I grit my teeth thru every storm.

I have to admit, the orientation of the pictures had be off balance for a bit.
At first I thought that the plants mysteriously attached themselves to a vertical wall that was covered with grass :)

Yup, the wind can be very nasty specially to orchids that dont have much weight to resist these gusts.
When I had an open shadehouse, I had to place all orchid pots on the ground during the windy season. Or else I risk having them blown down and damage the plants and pots.

Plastic pots dont help either, as they are practically weightless and dont anchor the plants down in high winds. Often I would be chasing down a potted orchid as it rolls away with the wind.

Gosh, what a shame. I bet your heart sank. (I would have had to have a stiff drink afterwards.)

I used to have plants on my balcony... until one Saturday morning I woke up to find 2 pots smashed on the ground 3 stories below and the area around my plants littered with rocks. My eyes welled, but I was able to hold it back. All my plants are inside now, safe from the drunk college kids.

And it's really annoying when you put them in a nice heavy pot and the wind just knocks them out of the pot instead of knocking the pot over.

Grr.

No problems with the wind, but every summer I have problems with squirrels. Either they knock over the pots or they chew off new growth! Love those dang furry animals!
