Virus infected orchid pictures wanted

Hi everyone! I know this is a weird request, but I'm looking for pictures of ORSV and CymMV infected orchids for a school project. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't have any orchids in my collection that are sick or know anyone with virused orchids. I tried going to my local box store to look for infected plants but all their orchids looked pretty darn good (gasp!). Does anybody have pictures of infected orchids that I can use? I'm specifically looking for ringspot on leaves and color breaking on flowers, but I'll take anything I can get!

I'm a plant pathology student at UW Madison and your pictures would be used in a UW Extension Bulletin on orchid virus diseases that will be distributed to the public for free. I will give you full credit for the photos and post whatever caption you'd like! Before paying someone for copyrighted photos, I figured I'd check if anyone here was willing to let me use one of theirs :)

If you search virus testing, I posted some photos awhile back of plants with leaf spots that tested positive and some with similar spots that tested negative.
Most people won't want credit for their virused plants.

No, i have tested the spray on a single leaf earlier and the plant did fine, meaning it stayed looking like this. And i just used garlic cloves, cayenne peppers, water, and a bit of unscented dish soap. And i did make sure to only spray the plant in the evening to avoid that issue :) I was just curious to know if this is a case of mosaic virus... i am new to gardening and am in deep fear of encountering the issue... The plant does seem to be doing better, however. Thanks anyway :)

I agree that it is not something I should buy. Scott's recommendations on this peach and a few other places make it seem like a worthy peach. I just wonder why no nursery has taken the time to get virus-free scion. I have quite a few Paul Friday peaches and a nectarine and I was not overly impressed with my first crop. Granted it was a hot, dry year, but I plan on replacing two of them and my Saturn peento as well. I spent a lot of time researching varieties and planning so I would have a continuous crop all summer, but I was not happy with any early peaches except Garnet Beauty this year. I have been hesitant to buy peaches that are not cold-hardy but so far the ones that I have that are not have done well. The O'Henry and the Silver Logan are supposed to be for zone 6 but they have done well. I went ahead an purchased Baby Crawford, Gold Dust, and Old Mixon Free.

Hello, I am new to this forum and have been a hobbyist for about 5 years. Window growing with lights and humidifiers (big window ^.^) and now in the process of building a green house. Obviously no expert. Began with traditional phals...now I mostly have catts and have very good success with them. With the green house coming, I decided to virus test my collection of about 80 plants and 15 were virused; ironically, ten were the "failure to thrive" group I've been hanging onto and had little reason to continue after that. But I LOVED those plants just the same. The other five have CymMV and are doing fine quarantined. Nick, if your collection is fairly valuable and/or sentimental...WHY RISK bringing in these plants? My recommendation would be to take them ONLY IF you have a separate place to nurture them before you give them away to your family and friends. Denise

Turns out it was mushroom mycelium, because it put out a fruiting body.

Thanks lumpy! I certainly don't have to credit the photo on the actual fact sheet, I just need to make sure I have some sort of written/digital permission to use it :) I understand it's never a proud moment to find out you have a virus in your collection - that happened to me a few years ago and I lost half my plants.... I just wish now I had taken pictures!

The best book on the subject of orchid diseases and virus is the American Orchid Society "Orchid Pests and Diseases."
