First one doesn't look like a leafhopper to me, but I can't ID. If it is, it's not actually harmless. It sort of looks like a lygus bug to me. You've got a painted lady caterpillar underneath the silken web, and that pretty longlegged fly is BENEFICIAL, not merely harmless. Painted lady caterpillars don't show up in huge hoards, like some others. The adults are among the prettiest jewels in the garden. If I had some of these on my plants, I would let them be. The green spider-like bug is a green spider. It is not doing the damage to the leaf in your picture. It has the same general appearance as the common green lynx spider; those have tiny dark spots sprinkled on the body and legs and occur in the southern U.S.

Hi Natasha. Great questions. My hope is that it is never bad enough that I need to use Bayer again! The active ingredient in it kills all sorts of beneficial bugs (and bees) too... and I really try my best not to use pesticides. If I only saw 12 or so in a hole I would feel really good about just using predator nematodes. I'm applying predator nematodes in about 2 weeks, then again in about a month. It is warm enough here to apply them now, but I just applied horticultural oil for the first time to some roses and citrus so I want to give that some time since the oil could smother the beneficial nematodes too. Have you gotten any rain in Phoenix? I think the reason why the nematodes didn't work that well in the fall for me is because the ground was just too dry. It needs to be wet in order for them to move around and get the grubs. At least 6 inches down. FINALLY after all the rain we have had it is wet about 6 inches down here now. If you're thinking about nematodes, I would say go for it! Just make sure to apply them when there has been some rain to make it easier on yourself and your water budget (that way you don't have to soak the soil in order to water them in). Good luck!

When I see a spider I let themselves make themselves at home. In fact, spiders in my home are revered, treated sacred. Every home has them even if you can't see them. They kill my pantry moths and any other insects that I can not get to. Therefore, as long as they don't crawl into my ears at night, I am fine with them for now.lol I actually have one that has cocooned himself in my shower wall, and another on the window sill in the corner, and yet another on my orange tree. many in my greenhouse, too many to count.lol Just the other day, I saw a hornet at the top corner of my grow room, and upon closer examination, it was caught into the web of my spider buddy preventing that thing from stinging me while I slept.
