Orchids are the exotic aristocrats of the flower world and can make themselves comfortable in almost any home
Full StoryHi everyone,
I have a phal that I accidentally sunburned last year. Thankfully, the plant is still alive (though it hasn't bloomed in 2 years). A month or two ago, I discovered a basal keiki growing at the base. It's put out 2 roots that are at least 2" long, and it has put out 2 new roots that are snaking up and around the base of the mother plant to find the potting medium. The keiki currently has 3 leaves, each about 2" long.
Right now, the mother plant leans to one side, and the keiki leans to the other side, so everything is growing crooked.
My question is-- should I remove the keiki (and if so, how best to do this), or leave it on the mother plant and let it keep growing crooked? I'm guessing the sunburned mother plant will not put out any new growth?
Thank you for your advice!
