Tiger, I was in San Diego a week or so back and saw a sample of the Leucojum outside a house a few doors down from the Museum of Contemporary Art in Le Jolla. I was surprised to see it there. I live in SC and it is one of my favorite spring bulbs. I believe it is Gravette Giant. I may be a few letters off on the spelling. As for a reference book, I like Scott Ogden's "Garden Bulbs of the South" but I would like to find a companion book with more photos. You can also check some of the bulb websites like oldhousegardens.com and southernbulbs.com they usually have photos. I brought home a piece of an interesting succulent that spread out like a ground cover with an orange bloom. I'm testing it in my climate. ~Scott~

Thank you! And...uh oh...we live in the country and have a LOT of rabbits, especially this season. It's going to be interesting to see if they eat this plant. This morning I woke up and an armadillo had uprooted a grandiflora petunia, and I was livid! Thankfully it was kind enough to dig under the rootball and bring it up that way. I like this board, I have a new flower bed because we built onto our house and the house is facing a different direction, and it was built on top of my old bed. Everything is new so this should be fun. If the plants live. :) Planted Elephant Ears two months ago and not one has come up. Ugh.

I grow a lot of Hellebores, if you want to grow from seed, it must be fresh as the seed can go into a prolonged dormancy if left for any amount of time. You will find all the info you need on the Hellebore forum about growing these beauties and expert advice on how to start them from seed. Annette
