I have had a lot of people asking this question. So this is for anyone needing help with it. The Belt Guide (part #7) in the diagram is held on by two of the engines mounting bolts. To remove the belt. Remove the two bolts holding it in place or loosen the engine mounting bolts enough to get the belt from around or onto the pulley. You can force the belt around the guide using a flat screw driver. But you run the risk of causing damage to the belt. You can press CTRL and + keys at the same time to increase the size of the image for a better look. Then CRTL and - to return it to normal size.

People in Gardenland are very nice until you need service!!!! I don't have any recommendation on other dealers. I bought my back pack blower from MMI in Sunnyvale since. But no experience on service. I am planning to fix everything myself. I made the mistake of letting Gardenland took care of the trimmer thinking it is under warrantee. I know it is the carburetor already, figure why fix it if it is under warrantee. The mading thing is even after paying $85, the trimmer never got fixed. I have to end up doing it after all!!! Gardenland make a lot of fuzz about old gas, they make you watch a video about old gas before letting you go after buying stuff. And when they know I am a home owner, they just don't even borther to listen anymore and came back claiming old gas. They did get very rude when I started arguing. I am actually consider buying online if the price is a lot cheaper and maintaining it myself. Mower do cut grass, cheap or fancy!!! That is the reason I make two suggestion, one of them is buy cheap and use it as dispossable. My TroyBilt is MTD which I believe make Craftsman and Cub. The deck is very thin, you hit something, you bend the deck!!!. YOu can try the Toro lower model in Home Depot. It all depend on whether you just want to mow the lawn or you want to get a fancy mower. I want a fancy mower so I am going for the commercial one, if you are not, save the pain of dealing with the dealer service and get dispossible one. 3 of the $229 mower only add up to one decent mower, you are not going to get 7 to 8 years on one mower without any service. That would be $150 on top of the mower!! I like fancy and I am handy, so I have the commercial option. Trouble free for years is over rated. With cheap mower, have trouble, buy a new one, still come out ahead. A lot of LCO use cheaper mower also, I don't think anyone can argue about 5 Craftsman out last one of the best commercial mower and much cheaper before you consider the maintenance. If you worry about warrantee, go to Sears and Lowes, they might sell extended warrantee. I bet they do honor the extended warrantee much better than dealers. I have a lot of experience using extended warrantee from big stores and I found them all very very good. They have to, they are in consummer market, they can't get away what the dealers can. If you want commercial stuff, you have to get it from the dealer or online.

Lbforever, I have no idea why you keep refering to me as direct567 in your reply. I do once in a while buy hard to find items on e bay however do not sell items due to issues such as high commission for e bay, hastle of shipping items only to have buyer complain and perfer to sell items I may have at the annual neighborhood rummage sale. I noticed in your reply your demeanor comes across best described as, angry, paranoid, and defensive. With you be a seller of items as you indicated that would be a extreme concern for any customer raising red flags from here to the moon. Another concern reguarding your reply is your feeling about e bay members trying to compete to sell items, however if your a seller of older lawn boy mowers just as omcjunkie wouldn't that make you 2 compete with eachother and not act like your brothers or best friends the way you stand up for him, especially considering the 2 members apears to live hundreds of miles apart???? As for myself I worked in the field of insurance fraud investigation for years and far prior to use of gps devices or hidden cameras and honestly quite disapointing what i have come across incuding people making false claims of cars damaged by a huricane until I found out their credit card was used out of state durring the time proving they were on vacation with the vehicle in question and claim is canceled in no time. My point is people who try to come across as defensive for no reason, or paranoid or despratly trying to change the focus of the subject often indicate the inside of the book does not match the cover. I also have looked at the profile for direct567 and his feedback seems typical for the time hes has the account and apears honest dispite not seeing alot of items for sale recently. The profile for omcjunkie does raise a red flag being within the past few months hes feedbacks gone up like wildfire and nearly all private. As I mentioned before private on e bay creates a honesty concern for all since buyers feel the seller has issues to hide. Also I noticed omcjunkie has another lawn boy for sale however this one he mentioned has a green shroud repainted yellow with painted decals. I give him credit for cleaning up his act a little in the honesty department however I wonder how he could paint the inside of the tank and make is resistant to fuel? My overall intent of starting this message was concern of bidding prices and procedures. If someone wants to pay $500 for a lawn boy with repainted cover and not recomended to be used for intended purpose thats fine. I have absolutly no problem with direct567 or many other e bay members who do a general clean up, paint touch up and mechanicly service of a mower then sell also which seems to be more typcial on ebay or local ads. Honestly id rather spend $250 with shipping for a mower thats fully functional and serviced then spend $500 with shipping for one that looks great but paint bubbles and flakes when put into service. Again i understand everyone has their own point of views on everything in life and respect that. I personaly only drive american cars all my life going back to the AMC days, my son in law eat lives and breaths toyotas, while my neighbor uses his motorcycle as much as possible. 3 differnt point of views but none of us argue or insult who is better then who. As lbforever indicated there is competion in any item or service you may be intrested in so pays to shop around and if the seller comes across as less then friendly then look elsewhere. Best example is when I had the roof on my rental property replaced last year I had 4 estimates and timed them all the same evening half hour apart for each apointment that way when one contractor was finishing the estimate the next guy was pulling in my driveway. It crated alot of evil stares but trust me I got a steal of a deal for being informed and aggressive consumer.

Another year has passed and two cycle Lawn Boy mowers continue to increase in value and are sought after by many for restoration and use. To all the people who posted here 14 years ago how are your four strokes doing? Are they worth as much as a two cycle Lawn Boy? As I previously mentioned, one of the most important factors that brought the two cycle Lawn Boys strongly into the 21st century was the improvements made in two cycle oil. Today’s oils are nearly smokeless , produce soft carbon, and give excellent lubrication at a 50:1 mix ratio. Lawn Boy manuals printed in the 1970s said to check the ports every 50 hours of operation and warn about the danger of carbon particles breaking loose and scoring the piston. They also say to remove, clean and gap the spark plug every 25 hours. We have to assume these maintenance intervals were based on using Lawn Boy oil at a 32:1 ratio. At the time these manuals were written, Lawn Boy Engineers might have had a hard time believing that one day their mowers would go 300 plus hours on the same CJ-14 spark plug without removing it once, and only need port checking and cleaning at 100 hr. intervals with no worry of hard carbon scoring. They might have been even more surprised to learn this would be possible using a 50:1 mix ratio. Oil has changed so much since then that it could now be said that using the old Lawn Boy oil today would be the last thing you would want for your two cycle Lawn Boy.
