Alleluja! My Cyp is blooming!

It's a Cypripedium 'Inge' (parviflorum x fasciolatum),which took me 4 years to bloom. Oh' it was not the cyps fault, but mine, as I had no clue how to grow it. There came early spring days of shriveling, slowly drying/dying leaves, and anxious waiting in the winter for new signs of life the next spring. In the interim I re-potted several times, thinking it was the medium that made them die so early.

Hardest thing was to leave it out in the cold (hard on the heart if you grow tropical orchids which like it warm.) Still, it peeked out of it's pine needle cover again this year, beginning of April. Leaves unfurled first, then...to my great surprise, the Slippers. Yes, there are two growths. Each is flowering. From now on it should be smooth sailing!

I had to tell you my story, for you know the happiness that comes from finally having figured out the way an orchid likes to grow best.

Thank you for listening.

Helga.
