Mounting an Orchid

Wish

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to mount my tolumnia and was thinking of what to use. I found a twig ball in the Garden District and got some live moss. I padded the ball with the moss and then took the tolumnia and spread the roots on it and put another layer of live moss on top. I used clear fishing line to wrap it around and around. On the other side, I mounted a Phal Violacea the same way.

The ball is perched on a ring that's mounted in my windowsill and looks fantastic! I have to figure out a way to upload a picture so you can see it. I'm misting it constantly and it's right next to my humidifier...

My question is: Do I need to "stuff" the twig ball with something to keep the moss alive? Is this a successful set-up? I would love to know what you think...

Also, I just received another tolumnia that it incredibly healthy and potbound. Should I also transfer ot to my little moss ball or keep it in its pot?

Thanks for your feedback!

All the best,

Wish
