Name That Plant!

Several IDs needed - But I might actually know a couple :)

These plants are in my mom's gardens and she has said I'm welcome to any/all of them if I want them in order to get started in my own garden at my new home, as well as having something to trade :)

So here we go..I'm gonna put my guesses in and see if I have actually learned anything from reading lol

1. 4 O'clocks, I think

2. I know these are still small..but some kind of Iris?

3. Pampas grass/monkey grass so says mom...when it's fully grown (about 8' tall at least) it has yellow horizontal stripes so I'm gonna say Zebra Grass

4. The next 3 pics are all of the same thing. Mom doesn't know what it is or where it came from but it has taken over lol

5. Yucca? or Adam's needle?

6. I don't even know if a plain ol' hosta can be identified. Obviously it's green. The flower is purple. I don't remember any fragrance.

7. Again, another hosta, with white edges. I think the bloom on this one was white though.

8. And lastly, it may be too early to tell, these are her ferns. They get really large.

I'm gonna give myself credit for at least knowing what a hosta and fern look like HAHA

The second one looks like Liriope (also known as Monkey grass); it can be quite aggressive. The third one is an ornamental grass of some type (would not be called Monkey grass, that is the nickname for the previous one).

The one with the purple flower is Vinca (periwinkle) and it is highly aggressive (don't get any of that and you may bring some of it accidentally if you did up other things).

The next one looks like Yucca, as you said.

As for the ferns, where is your mom located (what state)? If these are native ferns, it helps to know.

I agree with you on the third one, zebra grass Miscanthus Sp.

The last 2 pics are the same vine covering the fence and going all the way into the top of the tree. They are fixing the house up to sell. They cut the vine back about 2 months ago to the ground and its that big again already, lol. I was thinking wild grape as well and maybe it needs a different one to make grapes like a male and a female. The purple/blue flower is beautiful. I should have taken a pic of the whole plant. Its loaded with blooms. She says her little dogs like to eat the flowers and she thinks they get a buzz from the seeds, lol. I love the lizard. I haven't seen one before either. The house is a hideous burnt orange actually if I remember right but not pink like it looks in the pic. I took all those pics with my cell phone so I'm surprised they came out that well. I hope they repaint the house a different color before they try and sell it, lol.

OK...I am feeling pretty stupid at this point, and maybe it is just something that I am missing. First, I LOVE PHOTOS of Hostas. I enjoy reading the posts, and seeing the actual photo with that post, however, I know that there are rules that need to be followed. I just cant ever seem to find the photos of the hostas that you are speaking of when I go to the gallery. I am going to the Shade Lovers section. Am I in the wrong spot??? Please help. I feel like I am missing out on seeing these photos because I just cant find them in the gallery. Please let me know where to look for these. Thanks, Maggie

Most homeowners do not seem to be willing to pay top-dollar at a "real" nursery to buy the Patented rose-varieties ...preferring instead the cheap expired-patent (older) varieites sold by WalMart, Home Depot, etc. Translation: your roses are most likely to be expired-patent varieties. Such as: Your "red-&-white" rose is definitely Double Delight (1977). Your "pinkish-purple" rose (note the ruffley petals) is probably Angel Face (1968). Your "red strong smell" rose could be Mr. Lincoln (1964). Note: Its petals show no quilling. I need to state specifically that Angel Face and Mr. Lincoln are just "eyeball guesses" - because we've been given no descriptive info to aid the photos. Hoping some of this info is helpful, JohnReb

lukkiirish - here's a synopsis: tub/shower combo, toilet and sink/vanity will stay in the same place they are now door will become a pocket door with opaque glass that lets light through new tub might be a little wider and deeper if I can move tub spout to side of tub rather than end of tub (for seating at either end of tub) door may have to move over a little to accommodate wider tub door moving over may mean vanity needs to be a little shallower relatively new toilet will be replaced with one that flushes human waste without the aid of a plunger vanity will be replaced with one designed for the space such that doors aren't obstructed from opening by the toilet - and so that laundry chute under the vanity that is current sealed up with contact paper becomes usable with something like a bin type opening - and so that it generally has well designed storage for bathroom use medicine cabinet that's to the side of the vanity will be gone and replaced with some other medicine cabinet type storage other stuff that's just wearing out like faucets, tile/grout, exhaust fan, etc. will be replaced other than that I'm really going to try not to get caught up in too many extravagant, expensive ideas (unlike my kitchen)

The first fern could be Dryopteris cristata. The second one could be Athyrium filix-femina (although admittedly it doesn't look like mine, but there could be some variation to what is found in Georgia).

While it was good to see the habit, a closer look at the frond itself (and the pinna) might help nail it down.

Well, as much as I love my blackberry phone, I HATE the camera on it...

I took these pictures..on the camera they look good...off the camera they are blurry ..so I don't know if it is gonna help or not ...

Obviously, I need a new digital camera..
