The Asarum is on our property. I replanted it in my wild flower garden. We just moved here last fall, it is not that unusual here I assume since it is all through our woods, however it is unusual to me. This particular one was about to be choked out by ferns. For every plant I dig up, I leave at least two others. And my wild flower garden is in very rich soil, tucked under plenty of trees, shady and moist. Very natural place for them, especially since wildflowers volunteer to come up in there :) Thank you for your concern.

Thank you for the ID. I feel bad that I pulled it out now. There are more out there though; since it's native I guess it's a desirable plant.

Not sure about the second pic, but the first kind of looks like one of the native hydrophyllums, probably virginianum. If the younger leaves have any splotchy white markings that would cinch the deal.

jekeesl I don't remember where I read about aster name changes,but I found another article that's even more informative. I apologize for the inconvenience,but I don't know how to paste links to this site.If you google(DNA testing changing aster flower names) one site that should show up has a link www.guynewsum.com.That is the article.
