Snow in April is just gross! The only good thing you can say about it at this time of the year is that it doesn't last long.

I enjoy the 80+ degree weather I am having. It is so early for me to be out in the garden, weeding. There is a down-side: a 12" Rain deficit for the rain-year (July 1 - June 30 the following year), there are some showers predicted for Tuesday, but they are not even worth considering, we need some real gully-washers between now and May. Then it shall stay dry until late October or even later.

Well that cold air is making it all the way down here into Texas. The weather guy just told us tonight that we'll have a frost tomorrow night! ACK! My peppers, tomatoes & eggplants! To say nothing of the tender plants I just planted this week! Will some of you northerners please close the back door? We don't want any more of this cold weather!

Had to use the snowblower again yesterday, another 8 inches of sloppy wet snow. Wonderful for the wheat farmer, a mixed blessing for the ranchers. The ranchers are in calving season and the wet and cold is so hard on the baby calves. A friend has lost three to the wet cold so far but out of several hundred cows calving I suppose that isn't too bad The moisture will almost ensure good pastures later.

It's Gandle's fault, he left the door open, lol. We have three consecutive nights of around 30 degrees coming. Not that we have been used to any warm weather yet this spring. A day, maybe two. The tulipa are not even blooming. The forsythia have just popped, and precious little in the way of flowers are out for a freeze to harm, save the blooms on my plum tree, argh!

I am just fine with the weather staying cool until it decides to warm up for the season. I lost bushel after bushel of fruit last year to warm weather followed by killing freezes.

It's been beautiful here, I even had a cherry tree blooming in the backyard. The tulips are in full bloom all over the neighborhood along with azaleas.

Gail, tells me the plants we took from the lake house garden are up and growing, she is going to cover them up for me so they won't freeze. She has custody til I can get them planted here.

The south has a hard time with these cold snaps and freezes.
We are a bit spoiled with our short mild winters.
It is supposed to get down to 32 on tuesday. The tender leaves on the plants and the flower buds will surely freeze.
Last year all my azaleas were frozen just as they started to bloom. We didn't have peaches either.

I just got done putting as many sheets as I could over the peppers, eggplants & tomatoes. When they ran out I thanked God for my pile of leftover pine straw & just loaded it around & on top of everything left. DH thought I was nuts until he listened to the local news. Now he thinks I'm a genius - LOL!

I did bring the 2 red impatien baskets and put them in the sun room.
I'm not going to cover anything up.
I'm hoping for the best, but everything is on it's own.

I'm glad I covered everything up as there was, indeed, frost this AM. Kept the covers on today as there is more of the same tonight. Tomorrow the southernly breezes start to blow & we get back to normal.
