My count down is now 10 classes. I was watching the days, but that's too high, it's at 26 days. :) I hear the ball drop count from New Year's Eve!!!! 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1!

My maternal grandmother had a saying, "It takes a snake to catch a snake" (at least I think that was what she said). Anyway, I would go down to a local pet store and buy yourself a king snake. King snakes are harmless and they have the attribute of preying on other snakes, including venomous snakes. Per Wikipedia, "Kingsnakes are generally docile, curious and gentle". Let it go in your house. In short order, your new king snake will root out this interloper and kill it. Then, place a live mouse in a large, glassed in container like an aquarium. Make sure the mouse is secured so it cannot run away. Within a day or two the king snake will get hungry again and will go a-hunting. It will climb into the aquarium to get the mouse. Soon as it does, place a cover on the aquarium. You can then either keep your new pet or sell it on Ebay.

You led me to believe there was a crisis but there is none. When you said that the kitchen was dark, I thought you were using a very dark grey. This is not dark grey. As long as the room is light and pleasant and functional in different light situations, there's no problem. Light can be introduced in different ways, including sconces and countertop lamps and more wattage in lighbulbs. If you find the paint needs to be lightened to an even lighter grey, you can always do that with some more paint. You have no urgent need to do any changes for a while. An inspiration picture is for inspiration, not for dictatorship. Go in peace.

Ellendi, I've been amazed at how dramatically the samples change in color when you get them home. The last 3 stores I've been to, I've even taken the sample boards outside, in the shade to get a more accurate color choice, to no avail. Senator13, good luck with the install today! No wonder you are so excited. Hope all goes smoothly and I can't wait to see them!! Bozer, I had some friends over last night, to look over the ideas you posted. We all really liked the colors in the last 3. They appear to mix the brown tones and grey tones well. Not too dark and not too light, not too busy. I liked (think it's really fun) the 2nd one down, but everyone thought it might be too busy. And even more difficult to try to match many different colors. The 4th from the bottom, we love the colors, but think bigger size tiles would be a better option. Thanks for your help!! BTW, they were amazed that a group of strangers would be so kind and incredible to take the time to help. I completely agree. PS - lashing with apologies for calling you Bee in my last follow up :( I must have flooritis. dekeoboe, I tried to Google search Marm in RI this morning with no luck. I will try to call some places tomorrow. Thanks! OHHH, muspic, your flooring is really beautiful!! Did you choose to do 4 coats for a particular reason? My brother for years would go on cruises and would talk of the great time they had, mentioning many of the benefits that others here have brought up as well: meals included, only unpack once, the shows and the other amenities on the ship. However it has never really appealed to me. The "only unpack once" sounds good, and not having to find accommodations in each new spot visited sounds great, but the rest of the experience did not seem enticing: shows? pass. gambling? I don't think so. Going somewhere "exotic" and then eating glorified cafeteria food? Bleah. And no matter where you go, even if the place might otherwise be a great place to visit, it is instantly crowded with people from the ship. However a couple of years ago, my wife was teaching on the Semester-at-Sea ship, which went out for a month-long voyage around the Caribbean, I went along as a plus-one, and had the best time of my life. She had to teach her class during the 12 days at sea, but on the days in port, she (and all of the students) were free to travel in and around the port country. The "voyage" was similar in many respects to a commercial cruise, but I think the differences are a big part of what made the trip more enjoyable for me. Some key differences were: no casino -- its been replaced with the largest library at sea. spends more than 6 to 8 hours in each port -- we had two or three days in each port rather than broadway-type shows there were sometimes lectures or movies about our upcoming destination small enough that it can stop in smaller, less visited ports we were allowed to bring aboard no more than two bottles of alcohol per person per port. The differences to me seem analogous to the differences between a credit union, and a large nationwide mega-bank, ie. same ostensible purpose, wildly different practices and methods employed in service of that purpose. For instance I'm sure there is someone at each of the major cruise lines whose job (in part) is to determine what the optimum level of quality for the food served in the regular service should be, to nudge people towards the pay-extra-restaurants, without driving people away altogether. Admittedly, since I've never been on a commercial cruise, I'm comparing my experience on the SAS ship with my cynical, pre-conceived notion of a commercial cruise. So even if you are a person who thinks "Cruises are not for me" there may be something similar, but slightly different that could be the time of your life.

Thanks y'all! I am very happy about it. I knew I would have a really hard time with tonight's class, so I was getting fired up. Good thing I did.

After driving there, every memory of the past 25 years or so got touched tonight. My first "real" boyfriend's home had 50 year old trees downed. My first home with a husband, the place where we turned to go there, the landmark businesses I used to drive by are leveled (nothing stands in a 100 foot radius there), a friend I haven't seen in about five years lives down Tomahawk Trace, the street we like to drive down at Christmas time to see the lights decimated.... the list goes on. Twisted poles, destroyed buildings, tarps on every other home, railroad track uprooted, I just couldn't be believe what I was seeing. It is horrible. I cried all the way to class. Just when I calmed down, my classmate tells me all about the two who died... well, let's just say, that family is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so in love with each other, so so so in love with their new child... he was clinging to her and the baby when they were ripped from his arms. I mean could it be any worse? He's either in too much pain (broken ribs and back) or too shocked to understand they're really gone. Every classmate had a story. I vied with dump trucks filled with the remnants of homes all the way there. Our teacher is a major in the police department. I wish I'd had a recorder to catch all his numbers. 62 injured, 7 admitted, 1 lifeflighted to VUH. Search and Rescue from LaVergne, Smyrna, and Nashville all came. The police are being augmented by LaVergne and Smyrna. County. THP has a command post on the south end of town. The most amazing part of the foces,every last one of them showed up before being called. Volunteers continue to clean it up; it's in the millions worth of damage. The National Weather Service upgraded it finally to an EF4.

How tragic, Rob. Your post started off so joyful. I'm sorry for all the devastation and hurt you described ... tornados are so arbitrary in their path, and life so uncertain. The best way to deal with it is to hug your loved ones and pick up your books again...make every moment count. josh

Rob, I am so sorry. Living in tornado country is hard. I always have a guilty feeling when I rejoice that we have not been hit, but somebody has, whether it is a couple of blocks over or 100 miles down the road.
1...9... it will go by fast. What a great accomplishment.

Thanks guys. Can you believe it'll be 8 classes after 4:30 today?! Woohoo.

Yes, it was amazing how many people I knew that had been affected. To sit right by the Bryant's friend, boy, that tore me up. Do you know this is the first deadly tornado in Murfreesboro's since 1950? It is really amazing no one more were injured/died in it.
