A friend moved into her new house last year. This year, she's trying to figure out what should be tossed and what should be kept. We would love an ID on these plants! Thanks :)

I don't see any weeds there, but can't I.D. anything positively for you right now. Wait until further growth to see if you want to keep each plant or not. Everything does look healthy, though.

A twitter friend suggested that #3 looks like her ostrich ferns and #5 might be garlic mustard.

Ok, I have since done a lot of work to the patio, although it doesnt appear like much. I should have some pictures for updates this week. The additions include a tree, some hyacinths, some lirope, some Globemaster Alliums, Plox, Naked Ladies (name??), a Balloon plant. If you notice, nowhere in there did I mention the moss between rocks.... thats because I had a minor setback. All of my mulch was washing down into the patio blocking out all sun to the moss and killing it. I have corrected (I think) that issue and you will see it in the pictures I post this week.

I would say that no.8, though beautiful, is not an Ipomaea unfortunately but a pernicious perennial weed, Calystegia sepium. The absolutely worst weed I have in my garden. Follow the stems down and you will find long white roots which will run for miles and break if you try to pull them. Every piece will regrow. Here is a link that might be useful: Hedge bindweed

Diana, I love that gazania too. Not what i expected in color either. Just hope my others get a chance to bloom too. Highaltransplanter, even with the rabbits eating them every year, I'm a sucker for the flowers and have more seeds already for next year too. The candy lily is similar to the blackberry lily from what i've see on line but the blackbery lily is all one color of orange for all the petals. At least that is what I've seen in pics. Now, a friend did get some blackberry lily seeds from T&M last year and WS them. they where supposed to be all different colors of lavender, pink, orange, red and bloom the first year too. Well the seeds all germinated and the fans are growing nicely too. But, unless by some miracle they get a huge, huge growth spirt, they are not going to bloom this year. So I doubt I will know if these seeds will bloom different colors. I also have leopard lily seedlings and not sue if they will be different either. Bakemom and Barb, I just love the easter egg plant and the eggs really do look like real eggs hanging off the plant. That is until Sept. then they start to ripen and slowly turn a real bright, bright yellow, ironically the color of the yolk inside an egg. I will have tons of seeds for them in the fall for trade and SASBE, so watch for the post and we can trade or SASBE for the seeds if you want some. Fgirl21, missed seeing you and your daughter at the swap. Hope we see you this coming year. We really did have a very nice time and the weather turned out well for the rain date. Hope we see you this coming spring. Get that act in gear and those WS seeds ready to do too. Angie, the candy lily are well worth the wait, They are really pretty and very delicate looking. Just wish the blooms lasted more than one day. Wouldn't say that I'm well yet, but a far cry from what I was before the surgery, when I could barely walk without falling, and much better than I was a few weeks ago. Still have a long way to go yet, but every day is better and able to do more. By Sept. I will be able to get my perennials in the ground. Just lots of hard work at physical therapy to get there.

Yes, I do see the dandelion leaf in that shot now, I think. And the small dandelion plant in the last one. They very well could be multiple things there. I will look at some Erigeron species and compare them to what I have outside. Thank you very much, again!

9 looks like hens and chicks and 12 looks like it could be periwinkle/vinca

5 is garlic mustard. An invasive weed.

9 looks like red sedum

7 looks like wild violet? it is also an invasive weed but no as bad as garlic mustard. I'm nt positive on that it is wild violet though.

carrieb - I think you missed #1. Your guess for Geum (and it's a good one) would be for #2.

#8 looks like it may be one of the little tulips?

#1 looks like an aster to me as well. Pretty in the right wild place but rather thuggish and unfriendly in a "well-kept" garden bed.

I agree with carrieb's list as well.

6. Vinca major, Periwinkle
7. Glechoma hederacea, Creeping Charlie/Ground Ivy OR Viola, Wild Violet
8. Tulipa, Little Tulips
9. Red Sedum
1. Euphorbia marginata, Snow on the Mountain OR Aegopodium podagraria, Bishop's Weed/Goutweed
2. Vinca major or Vinca minor, Periwinkle

I'm pretty confident about #10 being Aegopodium podagraria. I've encountered this beast on more occasions than I'd care to think about.

I believe #6 is Houttuynia cordata, Chameleon Plant. It's another beast, sorry to say. I also agree that #10 is Aegopodium podagraria.

Ooh, I have #9 in my garden and I love it. It's a small little sedum groundcover. I think it may be dragon's blood or red carpet. It's too dark for me to check the garden and see if I still have my little tag stuck in the ground out there for moments such as this.

#5 weed weed weed. I can go out back and see plenty of that too. It's edible though if you're into wildcrafting and it hasn't been sprayed with toxic yuck.
