This little guy sprouted in a used nursury pot last spring and survived the summer heat and winter. It lost its leaves over the winter and was only a small wooden stem, but this spring it came out with a vengance and has grown to the size in this photo so far. I just re-potted it into a bigger pot since it looks like it will be an attractive tree or bush, but I can't figure out what it is. It has a woody stem/trunk, and the leaves are smooth on top and bottom with serrated edges. I haven't found any other plants in the immediate area that have leaves that are exactly like it. It seems to enjoy the shade because it has never been in a spot where it would get direct sun for more than 3 or 4 hours a day even in the summer.
