Tree houses are in fashion - at least if you've got enough $$$$ for them. I just saw a program on HGTV about some spectacular ones. They left me drooling.

Would that I had a tree house so I could climb up and close the door just once in awhile.

I forgot,we have our own little Treehouse here. LOL

We have a good friend who hated his shaded and sickly lawn so he covered most of his back yard with a giant deck and built a great big multi-platformed, non-walled tree house just off it. When he throws parties, he moves all of his indoor furniture outdoors... but I always end up in the treehouse with a bottle of wine and a couple of friends overlooking the chaos below. You have to climb one of those nailed-in ladders to get to it, but I've never been able to resist doing so... no matter how high my heels are at the time.

Things I've learned in life:
1) Never wear mirrored shoes with a skirt.
2) Never climb into a treehouse while wearing a skirt.

(I'm beginning to understand why my mom expressly forbade me to wear skirts when I was little.)

I like this quote. I don't have a tree-house, but have a house among the trees.
Never had a desire for a swimming pool, though a hot-tub among the trees would be nice.

If I can count 2 boards fastened to a Y as the platform, then I can say I had a treehouse when I was small. Those boards were just about big enough for my tiny butt, but I spent many hours reading, and just watching the world from the dizzying height of about 20 feet. The neat part was that this was in an old plum tree, so I could watch my snacks grow from bud to ripening.

Trees are a good place to think.

Last fall they had a display of treehouses designed by local Architects at Stan Hyatt. I was there for a garden lecture, but got the double pleasure of seeing these over the top little gems.

I would not mind having a treehouse. Way back when, I had a tree platform in a 600 year old oak. I either wore black gym shorts (Lilo do you remember those?) or when it got cold, skipants. Well, 70 or so years ago girls did NOT wear pants.

Don, you are so right about trees being a good place to think.

IF you don't like heights, a hammock is magical for looking up through the branches. josh
