Beautiful cinematography, but it really started to become irritating as they insisted on anthropomorphizing (over and over again) known chemical responses in plants. Plants don't think, feel, nor react to stimuli like we animals do. The chemical and sensory mechanisms involved are spectacular! Reducing them to animalistic emotional responses was a bit cloying and misleading.

We've known for many years that plants 'communicate ' on a minute and grand scale in exquisitely sophisticated ways. It's amazing. I could
watch plant growth and movement in slow motion for hours and hours.

A beautifully filmed documentary well worth watching but I expect that it might lead some into believing that plants "think ". They are far above that! Let's leave the emotional responses to us....the measly beasts, lol. :-)

'Human ' responses in plants is a theory so old that it's part of ancient history. The reality behind it is far more interesting than..."ooooh, I know that my plants missed me when I was gone...". I kinda worry that some may actually take away from the film that plants have emotions.

There was not one single response mentioned in that documentary that is new to science. Not one. Most things I learned about in college about forty years ago. Not new, but fascinating nonetheless.

I think that everybody should watch this video. It's truly marvelous.

It was a bit "dramatic"...

My main issue was that people might get the impression that natural plant protections that are released in response to trauma might lead them to believe that these natural protections are strong enough to protect them from pests (or strong enough to naturally attract beneficials). The rest of it was rather interesting/fun.

A plant can live and reproduce with horrible pest infestations, but it's fruiting output is usually diminished. The many-centuries bred, unnatural mutants that we call "vegetables" aren't well protected solely by natural chemical response to trauma. It's easy to forget that almost every veggie we enjoy has been selected and bred to a mutated and unnatural state of over-sized, over-produced, and quickly maturing state of being.

They're not fragile, but they're not as resilient as turf grass or a wild-type vegetable relative that doesn't care if it produces small fruit or a small crop as long as it gets a chance to reproduce something.

I haven't seen the documentary but thanks for posting. I will have to watch.
