I repotted my Phal. equestris Hybrid last week. Mid summer. It was not looking the best months before i did the deed, but i put off repotting till i saw lots of new roots coming from the base of the plant.

Bit dodgy repotting something in winter....well it would be here because my winter phal growing conditions are borderline at best.

So you have to get your Phal thinking it is in Phal. heaven whatever that is.

Perhaps if you describe your growing conditions the Phal. gurus may be able to help.

Debbie I have several different equestris plus some equestris primaries and your description of the leaf loss is very typical of that species. One of my albas had six or seven leaves, quit blooming and proceeded to drop four of its leaves almost at once. It is now pushing new roots and a new leaf.

If you have good roots and three leaves, it should be fine.

In your place, I'd put it w/ other Phals that like similar conditions and treat it like all the others and let nature decide about new leaves. Otherwise, I might hover and worry it to death.

Thanks Highjack for sharing your equestris experience. Perhaps this is just normal for it? Now that it has been repotted, I'm going to treat it like the rest of my phals. As it does have a good looking root system, no evidence of any pests, and I haven't seen any black spots to make me weary of fungus, perhaps this is just normal for this type of phal. It is my first equestris hybrid, so I didn't know how it may vary from my normal size phals.

For now, I'm going to continue as normal. Hopefully it will start to produce new leaves as spring slowly arrives. I stuck it in brighter light as well, so perhaps that will help.
