Phal Leaf Growth

I bought a phal equestris hybrid about 6 weeks ago. It was in bloom at the time and had healthy looking leaves and roots. I did not buy it under the best of conditions...it was being sold in 40 degree weather on the streets of Manhattan.

It succumbed to bud blast a few days after it was purchased. I imagine because of the serious change in temps and humidity. It then lost all its flowers about two weeks later.

It had 5 leaves when I bought it. Over the last two weeks, two of its lower leaves turned yellow and fell off. So, it is now down to 3 leaves. I thought that it needed a repotting, so I cut off the spike and repotted it in a mixture of moss and bark. When I repotted it the roots looked healthy and good- firm and green.

Do you think the leaves dropping was because of the change in environment? Do you think it's still adjusting?

And how do I encourage new leaf growth? Any suggestions?

TIA

Debbie
