Please excuse this question - I've got a lot to learn...
I picked up this phal at the last meeting of the local orchid society several weeks ago. It's a young plant with 5 small leaves and has yet to flower. The title of this post is an exact copy of the label attached to the plant - quite a handful of a name for such a little fellow. I looked up this cross and found a shorter name: Dtps.I-Hsing Sesame. Can I use this name?
I assume that the plant was grown from seed (or flask) therefore it's a hybrid and can produce flowers quite different from the photos. Can't wait to see what happens -another test of my patience.
Another question - the pleasant lady who sold me the plant started to tell me that some people cut off the very first spike in order to strengthen the plant. However, she was distracted in mid-sentence by the clamour of potential customers around her stand, and never got to tell me what she would do. So, what do you think? I'm sooo reluctant to wait another year to see what I've bought!
