:p mine will be in a pot. So it should be ok I'd think? I do rent, so I don't want it invading the whole yard.

I suppose if it were taking over all my other plants, I might grow to hate it.

#5 is a red leafed vine plant growing near the vinca. I'm not sure what it is, it has narrow leaves that you can see at the bottom of the image and 2-3 LONNNGGG vines coming off it, but they aren't attached to anything.

Also, I saw some Grape Hyacinth near by the "grass" I guess the ones I saw might have had more sun and bloomed sooner?

How do I kill the lamium? It's quite pronounced in my lawn, but not in any of my flower beds. I just figured I'd run it over with the lawn mower, but it doesn't sound that easy.

euonymus looks to be a large bush according to google?

The number 5 is the Euonymous. they creep along and also put up some stubby growth on the bush to maybe 8 or 10 inches. the vines will climb a wall nearby.

oh! There is a big, dead bush that the red vines are under.

It was sort of dead looking all summer. Granted the summer was pretty hot. It had sort of green and yellow variegated leaves. There are two more bushes that looked the same in my back yard. How excited to discover stuff.

Do you have any advice for helping it out, like..should I prune it before the summer time? I'm not sure what type it is...

are the vines ok to let grow around things?

Looks to me as if the Grape Hyacinths are just starting, not just finishing.

i agree.. thats what GHyc winter over looking like

i would get rid of that bush.. its planted too close to the house .. actually.. what i would do.. is wait to find out what it is.. and whether it has any value.. and if so.. then move it at least 3 feet out from the house ...... if not elsewhere

I think your shrub might be some kind of Honeysuckle bush, Lonicera morrowii or something like that.

There are a bunch of Euonymus species, most of them are shrubs but E. fortunei is a vine. It also climbs up trees and acts shrubby sometimes. Garden centers sell all kinds of variegated varieties. The original green one has turned into a bad invasive in the woods in the northeast - it pretty much smothers out whatever is around it. On the other hand it has made a nice thick groundcover in the dry shade right behind my house where nothing else grows. You just have to prune it ruthlessly to keep it where you want it.

Purple Dead Nettle is a problem if you want a pristine lawn; not sure how you'd get rid of it, though. Probably whatever 'weed and feed' stuff that kills other broadleaf weeds would also get rid of it. It doesn't get very tall, you can just mow it along with the grass.
