What is this tall weed/plant with yellow flowers?

I'm in zone 10.

The plant is slightly more than a foot tall at the present time. 3 pictures included.

Looks like sow thistle, Sonchus oleraceus. A common weedy plant.

I'm thinking it's a Lactuca of some type, maybe Lactuca serriola, prickly lettuce.

Just checking these forums again today and thought I should clarify that the effect I was referring to was the UV sensitization. The phytophotodermatitis can leave visible marks for weeks, months, and even years in extreme cases. I had a small burn on my hand that was probably caused by this plant and it remained darkly pigmented for about 6 months.

from the leaf shape it looks more like sonchus arvensis
