Thanks. I googled kalanchoe beharensis and the images shown look identical to the plant we have so it must be that. Also found a listing on eBay for a kalanchoe beharensis and they referred to it as captain cook's hat. Not an Australian native (as we were told) after all.

A quick google search of Smallanthus sonchufolius turned up pictures of plants with foliage very similar to the foliage in the picture. I wouldn't rule out Smallanthus, but if you think it's not quite right, search through pictures of the various species until you find one that fits.

Observing the seed pod, seems like it has winged seed pod (may be Joseph could take a closer photo on seed pod, I just zoom and crop hence fuzziness), in this case I would lean to P. umbraticola, (This is just my thought, to add to this discussion), I'm not aware if there any hybrid between P.O and P.U though.
