Chewy, This is really simple and you will be surprised how fast the fish decomposes. In a 5 gallon bucket (I prefer black but any color is OK): I start with about 2" of aged sawdust in the bottom of the bucket. The sawdust is from a very large pile that was left on my property when they logged it off. The I fill it to 1/2 to 2/3 full with the fileted carcasses of sunfish and crappie. Any smaller fish (under 1# fish) carcasses will work for this. With big fish, it takes too long for the heads to break down. Then add water to within 4" of the top and then 2" more of sawdust on the top. Web sites recommend adding molasses but I have never found this necessary. Those same sites recommend putting screen on top and then a lid. I just stretch a plastic grocery bag over the top. This keeps the flies out of the bucket. The bag fits very snug over the bucket rim. After about 10 days, I take off the bag and give it a stir with a stick that is used only for this purpose. Then a fresh bag goes back on, stretched over the top of the bucket. After another 10 days, repeat stirring. At 30 days it can be used. It can be filtered through a screen or used chunky. Depending on how and where you use it, will determine how much you need to dilute it. I usually dilute about 10 or 20 to 1 to use on garden plants. I should mention that it is done in 30days during the summer, when it is warm out. If you do this in cooler weather, it could take 60 to 90 days to finish. You will be able to smell when it is done. It changes from smelling like rotted meat to more of a really stinky manure smell. I don't know if the smell of the buckets actually "repel" the deer. It's possible that the smell is just strong enough to mask the smell of what you don't want them to eat. Anyway, it works. I've got my 3rd bucket of this brew going right now. I've used it earlier in the season on my tomato, pepper, and cucumber plants. It works GREAT! The current batch will be used on my compost pile. Right now the pile has too much brown matter and isn't "cooking" A bucket of fish emulsion poured on top of the pile will supply the nitrogen and moisture necessary to get the pile "cooking" again.

@ justmetoo----His now 21 year old son assaulted me, not the one that lives with us now. His mother does feed him stories and has for years let them in on the finances and done everything in her power to cause trouble and discontent. To be honest, in my opinion, this all went off the rails with this particular child when WE bought him a car. After my husband and I did this he kept the ca for about 2 months and decided that he didn't want it anymore. I had a truck that we were not using so SS came to me and said he wanted to buy it because, a. he wanted a truck, b. it would teach him what it was like to have financial responsibility. I should have seen through that right there, because I don't know many kids that would say that. I was honestly against it because I saw nothing but trouble, but after all the hounding I got from my husband and SS, I gave in just to shut them up. I stipulated that there would be rules, the vehicle would not be his until he paid it in full, it could not be driven out of the local area further than 50 miles, and since it was in my name and under my insurance he was not to haul all his friends around and he had to let us know where he was going. Keep in mind at the time he was 16, so I don't think I was being to unreasonable. That was fine for about 2 months and suddenly he stopped paying (payments were $50/month), breaking curfew, rude, sassy, etc. He wants to put the vehicle under his mothers insurance, because she doesn't have to know where he goes. Then he decides he doesn't want this vehicle and he wants to sell it and buy something else. Now I have no way of knowing what my husband and his son discussed or concocted, and they are famous for making little deals and leaving me out of the loop. (That's another issue) So, I agreed to allow him to sell it with the stipulation that he only keep what was leftover from what he owed us because I just wanted to be rid of the situation.. Well you would have thought I was asking for his first born, because suddenly he doesn't understand why he has to pay for something that had been given to me in the first place and why did I not just give him the vehicle. So he sells it and when my husband does not turn over the full amount to him, he says, "Mom told me you would not give me what you owed me!" HAHA BINGO! So I told my husband, BM is obviously planting seeds in his head, which you can't reason with this woman she is a nut job, we have tried. He gets a new car with his mother and adds it to his insurance and in even more attitude, he came over one night to fight with my husband about this entire transaction. Do I know if my husband has lied to him? No, I do not, however that is no excuse to talk to your father that way. In my opinion, bottom line SS is mad because he did not get what he wanted from us. This is the same child that asked his Dad to change the custody agreement so that he could stay with us more because he did not like living at his mothers house because everyone fights there all the time, per him. My husband even gave him $400 to register his new car that he got with his BM with the understanding that he would pay it back because he is working. This was 6 months ago and the boy has yet to make any attempt to give us anything, in fact he told his Dad in the past few weeks, "I don't have any F*&^ing money, so why would I give you any? I'm not paying you back." NICE! My husband left his son OVER $300 for lunch, food, etc whilst he has been away, gives him money to eat when the SS is at work, school, to go out with his friends....but the boy has a job, he is already in college. I feel that we have done so much for him and all he does in expect more and disrespect more. He will walk right past me in my home and look right through me and not say a word. I feel that I have done more for him in the 5 years I have been married than his own mother does for him. Its just a mess and it makes me very sad because it was NOT always like this. We used to do things as a family, have dinner together, go on trips and now I can't stand the sight of him.

My DD had a flannel plaid shirt from Urban Outfitters a few years back that had that same back. I know what you mean about polyester, but this such a nice top that I give it a try. It is the type of top I would wear going out to lunch with friends or even out to dinner. Nothing where you would be exerting yourself. No, I wouldn't wear polyester if I am going to be outside in the heat, or grocery shopping and pushing a cart around.

Plllog, The Princess is a sweetheart, she takes care of us "old" people, LOL. LindaC, it is exactly like lemon curd and involves no boiling water or any stovetop cooking at all. I sometimes make it with Meyer lemon and I've also made a lime version, it all came out just fine. I just plain sugar, I never have superfine. I just whisk the eggs by hand, and leave out the zest, because the girls like it "smooth". And, in spite of Colleen's instructions about what to do if the stuff separates, I've never had a curdled batch. The "sneaky notes" are Colleen's, not mine. Lemon Butter (Colleen) 4oz butter (NOT margarine) 3/4 cup lemon juice (about 3 lemons' worth) all the rind from the lemons, grated 1 cup sugar (I use superfine) 4-5 eggs, thoroughly beaten Put butter, sugar, lemon juice and lemon rind into a micro-safe bowl. Cook on high about 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Butter should be melted and sugar dissolved. Beat in eggs and microwave in 30-second bursts until it thickens, about 2 minutes. Whisk after each burst. Store in refrigerator to prolong the shelf life, which is short. Makes about 3 cups, maybe less. Sneaky notes: If you are making a LOT of this, for gifts, etc, I peel the rind off with a peeler and drop it into the blender. Then cut off the white pith with a paring knife. Making sure there are no seeds, drop lemon flesh into blender. Whizz it up until the rind is pulverised. You should end up with about 1 cup of juice/rind mix per batch, to account for the rind and aeration. You can double or triple the recipe, just use a bigger bowl and adjust the times. I also use the blender to whizz the eggs. If they are not totally beaten, you can get little white strings from the egg white which don't look great. If you overcook it and it separates, beat up an extra egg. Gradually mix separated (sounds much better than curdled, doesn't it?) mixture into egg. Repeat if necessary. Annie
