WATER FEATURE!!!!!!!!!!! I see a solder repair at the spout and what looks like it may have been used as such??????????? Or maybe just an attempt by last owner since it is not patinaed-out by water exposure.

I thought it was originally a chocolate pot but it is probably too small for that.

The spout actually looks like those found on old whale oil lamps....I guess it could be one that someone has retrofitted for their own needs. The top knob looks like it was added after the fact. I think it would make a cool candle holder or something for a water feature....let us see what you come up with!

mngirl there isn't any whole inside. It's solid. I know the pic is big, but that way you can see detail...

LOL dcarch! Leveta, if you can't make a genie come out of it, I bet it would make a very nice candle holder or maybe an incense burner since it's small. You could do a fountain, just scaled down for the size. Indoor water feature maybe? Pretty piece! ~tenderlee

It looks to me like it has been altered. It's pretty neat nevertheless!

I have no idea what it is but it would make a cool water feature since it looks like it is copper. Cool find! And cool pic, dcarch!

Candle holder or part of a water feature?? I can picture both. Let us see what you do with it.

I asked my neighbor to look at the photo. She's an interior decorating historian, for lack of a better term. She does consulting work for museums, historical properties, film companies, etc.
From just looking at the photo she thinks that this object was originally two pieces that have been joined at the base. Both pieces appear to be from the 50's/early 60's American Colonial revival decorating fad. The top piece is a replica of a whale oil can (Yeah Marlene!) and base is a wide mouth vase. She said the double spout effect looks added on but she's not sure. Keep in mind that all this is just from looking at the photo.
She thinks it's a very cool find and is interested in what you finally do with it. She's also intrigued with our GJ forum. Who knows but we might have a new face to add to our photo album!

Thank You nmgirl. I really apprecaite you doing that. I knew it probably wasn't anything special, but just loved how it looked and thought it would make a great candle holder with some little flowers attached to it. I really like the colonial era. Again Thank You....

I get it. You are saying it is the computer program and not my creativity and artistic talent that make such nice artwork ! (LOL)

I have a whole bunch of typical graphics software. I use them all, depending on what I am trying to do.
