What’s on your/husband’s list?
Comments (43)"I don't have a list. Neither does DH." That is so us. We usually do some kind of gifts to each other but honestly, we have everything we need and buy something when we need/want it. I absolutely do not like to know what I am getting, have to tell someone what to get me, receive money or gift cards. I love surprises. I have to be very careful when I see something I like because my husband often interprets that as something I WANT. LOL This season is not about gifts to us. I chair a local angel tree committee and we've been very involved in that (finishing up this week!) and seeing the requests from some of those children just makes me realize even moreso that we don't need anything. Still, I'll have some little things for hubby and I know there will be a surprise for me. I like that friends of ours only do a stocking for each other. Good idea. I just want some down time, spent with the one I love. That's my Christmas wish!!...See Morewhat’s the one thing you’d do to update this kitchen?
Comments (68)I agree that granite makes it outdated. The cabinets are of a darker shade, so I would recommend you to pick a lighter and brighter looking countertop, like white or light gray marble -looking quartz or some of the white granites, like River White. That would create a very nice contrast and open up the space considerably. Also, I would get rid of the granite on the walls. White marble tile (like Carrara marble) backsplash would add a touch of glamour and lighten up the space even more. Staining or painting cabinets may be pricey, so I would invest in painting only the island. By changing the hardware you can give the cabinets a totally new vibe....See MoreWhat’s new for you?
Comments (54)Too funny, but after saying we had not tried eating outside in the big city, we did that very night! It was not actually in the city I was referring to but a bit further out, in a city just outside that area. I had ridden with hubby for him to make a business call and due to a bit of a road-block, etc. we were both pretty hungry and it was still a bit of a drive to home. Apparently some Cracker Barrel restaurants are doing the outside dining so we decided to go for it! We've had some cooler mornings/evenings this week (I think due to all this tropical rain moving in) so it was a nice evening to eat out. I've never tried the meal services but I've seen a few of the recipes that I would try. I love to cook and one thing i've enjoyed about not working, is more time to prepare meal. For myself, I don't think I'd every do a meal service because as mentioned, I really enjoy cooking. I love trying new recipes. I am very particular about ingredients though, especially produce and meat, and just would not want someone picking that out for me. We are fortunate to have a store with a butcher nearby and of course this is the time of year for produce!! Only thing new for us is finally having our internet upgraded LOL. Our equipment was about to not be supported any longer and although I hated having someone in the house, we did so. The technician wore a mask the entire time, big bootie things over his shoes and bless his heart; he had to go in the attic. But this fiber optic seems to be the bomb, extremely fast!! Will be doing a door visit with my dad this weekend, guess those are new and working well. I am so grateful to FINALLY have dad in a facility where he is happy and well cared for. He did spend a night in the hospital last week, not sure what happened, maybe a small seizure. He was in the process of withdrawing from Tramadol, which was causing hallucinations (!!! very scary) so perhaps that had something to do with it. All the tests turned out fine. Cyn congrats on those baby twins! How exciting! Jojo, keep on trying if you are interested in the job, you would be great!...See MoreDecorate for the life you have…what’s that quote again?
Comments (22)I also envy your FB Marketplace, Sueb. That piece looks fabulous. :) (I find Magnaverde's quote terribly sensible which is why I've needed to remind myself of it often. Decorating for the life I wish I had is a recipe for wasted money, a dysfunctional house and a very grumpy significant other. :P First applied this quote to my wardrobe and soon realized the magic behind its profound truth. The point of having clothes I can't wear in real life is now truly lost on me and I now purge our house on a regular basis. Being more mindful with my purchases from the start helps reduce the need to purge but of course, a family's needs evolve. Still, it's a mindset I strive to practice.)...See MoreSharon Fullen
