Which zero turn mower to buy (Husqvarna or Toro)???

I need some help. I found this community by doing a search for reviews, etc. I am purchasing a home use zero turn mower. I have narrowed it down to these two. I am not a mower expert and would really appreciate some input from some of you that are familar with these models.

You got the engines backwards but other than that and the cutting width, these units will be about the same light duty quality. Buy from the better servicing dealer with the better warranty.

Go with the Husqvarna unit cuz I know a guy here in town that runs a lawn cutting business who has that mower.He loves the zero turn Husky and says it has had no problems.All his stuff is Husqvarna so I guess he likes the brand.They are a well built unit that is manufactured in the usa!

I have a new Toro SS5000 residential lawn mower with 15 hours on it. Recently a friend of mine is selling his 2002 Great Dane Chariot 61" deck with 368 hours. Should I sell my TORO and get this Great Dane or just keep what I have? The great Dane was for his fathers home with 5 acres so no comercial use and he was first owner. Definitely not as pretty as my toro but with the 61" deck it makes quick work of my yard as I test cut yesterday. definitely can use a tune up but no major issues. He is asking $3000 which is around what I paid for my toro.

Your right about the Toro. I bought a Z5000 Timecutter in 2008. Since day one, EVERYTIME I get it out to cut grass, both front tires are flat. I pump them up, cut my grass just fine. The next week I come to cut the grass, they are BOTH flat again. This has gone on WEEKLY for over two years. Toro says there is no problems with the tires. Yea right! The company or the dealer will not do anything about the problem. They say there must be something else wrong. So the 3 year warranty they give with the machine is a joke. I spoke to a guy one morning while shopping at Home Depot that has the same z5000, and he said his tires are also flat every week. So I think the tires Toro puts on these things are defective from the factory. (they are made in China, I think) The z5000 seams to work fine otherwise. I have had Wheelhorse/Toro faithfully for over 40 years. I think my next machine will be a John Deere Zero Turn.

Don't know your situation but I just bought a 20HP Ariens from Home Depot, using the $250 "bath" cupon code, had to add a cart to the deal to get the coupon, but with free shipping to my door (cross country in 7-8 days) an almost free cart and the fact that the Sears and Ariens are all made by Husqvarna in the same factory, it seems like a good deal. A zero turn will get almost into corners but for the price of the yard tractor??? Down side is that Home Depot has very little customer support for this, upside the Agri-fab brand front tractor scoop from sears (and Husqvarna) bolted right up and from calling a Husqvarna dealer who measured the rims on the rear it seems Husqvarna wheel weights are a direct bolt on option. With free shipping, at under $1400 bucks, I just don't know. I used to be a Craftsman fan BUT the quality and customer service today stinks, mostly the customer service which we used to depend on, all thing being equal I would not buy from Sears again, I only bought the scoop as it was on sale and over $100 less than the local Husqvarna dealer wanted for it. $1000 more for zero turn (trust me you will still need to trim with a mower or string trimmer) or a std lawn tractor is all up to you.

Why would you want a blow and go commercial speedbuggy for a nice yard? You might not realize those pro guys have a need for speed? I would go another way. Additionally, have you ever seen a zero turn that when turned zero, did NOT scalp a circle where the wheel rotated? Used properly, the turn is wider than you think. You learn this after your wife yells when you cut the grass and leave round spots bare or dying at the end of each run. Just sayin...those are nice machines, but you might want the refinement cut like a Walker Zero Turn Mower might give for a fine landscaped yard.

Gee, skane recommending a Husqy, didn't see that coming.

Since you aren't an expert (per your post) how about telling us a bit about your uses (lawn size, obstacles, hills, pulling anything, etc.) and we will be sure that either (or neither) of these really fits your needs.

I am very parcial to Husky cuz they are very good and out here in Taber,Alberta,Canada all everyone uses are Huskys,John Deere,and Wal-Mart brand mowers(Brute).I won`t recommend crap!I also know alot of people here in town who traded their John deeres for a Husky.
The local Husky dealer here in Taber,AB also sells Echo weed wackers and chainsaws along with Ferris mowers.The guy gives amazing service too and he told me that most of his stuff sells itself but service has to be the best for customers to keep comming back!

The bottom line is, regardless of "the guy you know" that uses one, both the units mentioned above are lightly built, stamped deck, homeowner units. That is probably all the OP needs but there is very little difference between the two units.
