First totem : Teeger Memorial

I've had supplies and meant to make a totem for a long time, and when my precious little Teeger cat died last Friday, I had a purpose. Here it is in the garden next to his grave. There is a solar light in the top, which is removable.

Here he is in August, sitting with me as he often did. His liver never worked right so his eyes were orange due to too much copper.

I am giving more detains in a second message so I don't have too many pics in one.

I had challenged myself on the conversations side to use what I have and not buy more stuff for a month, but continue crafting each day. I didn't have orange glass globs like I wanted, but I remembered that I did have glass beads. They are more orangy than in the photo. They are subtle, but pretty in person when you move closer. The other pic shows the solar light. I'd like to find an amber colored topper eventually. I'm eager to see what it looks like tonite, hope the light shines through.

I'm so sorry about Teeger, it's hard when are little furry companions pass on. Your totem is a very nice memorial and really pretty. I like the beads and the removeable light is a great idea. I have been working very hard trying to use what I have since your challenge and will have lots of pics soon.

Welcome Janniegrannie. I think photo bucket is very easy to use too. Once your pics are there, you just copy the html code. If the pic is "chosen" that is large and center, you may see a little box that says "copied" when you click onthe html code. Then you just come to your post here and "paste" with your right click. Snowbunny, I am sorry you lost your beloved dog. What was her name? I have three memorial gardens for my lost dogs. The first is for Bridget, an incredibly smart, funny, Golden Retriever/Lab mix. Two years before I lost her, she helped me dig the water garden, me with my shovel, she with her paws. When the liner was installed, the water added, and the rock edging in place, we began and ended every summer/spring/fall day there. In the morning I would sit and drink my coffee, Bridget at my feet, and at night, we would sit and listen to the frogs and watch the fireflies. She is buried on the other side of the path. I put a shepherd's hook over her grave and hung her collar from it. Six years later, though faded, it is still there, as are my memories of my beautiful girl. And though they are covered with moss now, her beloved tennis balls can still be seen, here and there, among the plants. My little Homer, a rat terrier, died two years ago. His loss has hit me like a ton of bricks. On the last camping trip with him, I found a triangular rock that I brought home and less than a month later it became his grave marker. I hung a grapevine wreath on a tripod behind his grave and grow a beautiful vine with bell-shaped flowers over it. A friend gave me a small angel holding a tiny dog in her arms, and I put that there too. Because hiking and camping were Homer's favorite activities, besides loving me, whenever I go camping or hiking, I bring home fossils, special rocks, and small pieces of driftwood, and surround the angel with them. And lastly is the Big Dog Memorial Garden. It is in honor of Big Sunny (165 lbs), O'Malley (120 lbs), Badger (110 lbs), Byron (90 lbs) and Peanut (125 lbs), all whom were dearly loved. The plants in this garden are all huge, either in leaf or in height, and it is located by the large pond they all loved to dive into during the hot summer months or played on the ice of during the winter. Oh sweeeeeet Katie! She's gonna love how you blended the purple and blue! LOL Karen, I love purple too, had my first date in it. Purple hot pants with go-go boots. Anyone else remember those? Sorry about your kitty. You made a lovely memorial totem. It looks sturdy. I really like the way you fit your light in on the top. Very clever. I LOVE the look of the beads. Nice job.

I am so sorry to hear about Teeger but he sure has a beautiful totem as a memorial! It definitely shows how much you loved him. I think the beads were a great idea. They look very pretty. I tend to forget about my big stash of them. I bet Angel Teeger was snuggled up close to you while you were making it just like in the picture :^)

I sure am sorry about Teeger. But I think he knew he was loved. And this totem sure does show it. I think it's perfect.

Oh, Kathy, I'm sorry to hear about Teeger, it's so hard to lose them. Very nice memorial totem. One of my totems has that same top. Even tho all of ours are buried in different places I'm thinking a Kitty memorial garden might be an idea I'll pursue.
