I'm a newbie, although I've been lurking for quite some time. I'm so in awe of the creativity I see here. I'm not a very creative person, but I've made several totems after being inspired by so many I've seen here. Okay....I'm addicted. Gonna try some of the other wonderful things I see. I tried uploading a picture but it keeps telling me the file is larger than 61k. It's just one picture......any suggestions?

I always had issues with photo size too. Just open a free photobucket.com account. You can keep all your photos of crafty stuff uploaded there too and size some of your computer's memory. Each picture will have a link you can just copy and paste into this forum. Good Luck , I will be waiting for all your new totem pics.

Welcome Janniegrannie. I think photo bucket is very easy to use too.

Once your pics are there, you just copy the html code. If the pic is "chosen" that is large and center, you may see a little box that says "copied" when you click onthe html code. Then you just come to your post here and "paste" with your right click. If you go from album view you may have to copy the html code.

Hope I haven't made it more confusing...

I like them both! I love that pretty green teapot in the top one and the more sophisticated look of the black and white totem. It's a good thing I don't come to one of your sales because I'd have a hard time deciding which totem to buy! lol Btw, I NEVER get tired of seeing totems!

Either could work.....it depends on your preferences and the size of you garden. Personally, for just a privacy screen, I wouldn't want the plants in question to eat up much valuable outdoor space so I'd likely go with a single row. And just so you are aware, plants - even rather densely planted evergreens - do not provide much of anything in the way of sound blockage. You need several hundred feet of dense growth between you and the sound source for any relief. Or a solid masonry wall.

I like a plate face up for the shine of rainwater in it. In dry spells, I use hose (city) water in it, but that eventually forms dulling mineral deposits; periodically I clear those with "Lime Away", trying not to kill plants underneath. I like the look of tiny pebbles and marbles glued onto my dark blue glass totem top plate - freeformed like a river bed - but that traps even more mineral deposits. I'm in a no-freeze part of Florida, so I'm sorry for those of you who must contend with that. (But what beautiful photos ya'll post of your winter scenes!)

Need help with Italian cypress Totem Pole

Check soil at base to see if it is too wet. Otherwise as it happens I was just looking closely at some similarly structured, one gallon Tiny Tower ('Monshell') in a nursery yesterday, noticing that they were all peppered with dead bits on the outermost foliage. Whereas 3 other, more vigorous Italian cypress selections arranged right around them did not have this condition. I couldn't tell if they had been lightly sheared by the grower, with the cut ends having browned or if it was something else. You might try searching things like "italian cypress disease", "cypress blight" etc. to see if anything fits.
