Finding parts for homelite hedge trimmer

I have a homelite 18023 hedge trimmer. Machine is about 15 years old or so. Runs good. Its very noisy though, gear mesh noises. went to pull the gear box apart and noticed a tooth on the pinion gear snapped off. The rest of the teeth on the gear are badly worn. I called a few places and got the good 'ol "throw it away and buy a new one" bs. "dont waist your time" etc. etc. Well, I will waist my time as its a nice machine, and I believe in repairing equipment as opposed to throwing it away. Im really sick of this throw it away attitude everyone has. What do they care? Im the one WORKING ON IT! I found a PDF file for the hedge trimmer and need both pinion gear and drivin gear. Part numbers O1313 (pinion) and 01312 (drivin gear, that drives the hedge clipping unit) I found only one source online, and can find the drivin gear for about $10, but the pinion is supposedly NLA. Any help is greatly appriciated.

Thanks
