The ARS has an evaluation form that they use, but it's pretty simple, and someone evaluating in a different context could do a lot better. I can't find it now, but recently I stumbled across someone's blog where they'd posted a rose evaluation list, where the score was meant to decide which should be shovel pruned and which retained. I think that any such checklist should be personalized a bit. Per a recent poll, people are pretty unified in wanting disease resistant roses, but the #2 priority, fragrance, is already divisive. People smell different roses differently, and like different scents. Here in coastal California I rate rebloom high and don't care at all about cold hardiness, but in Finland it would usually be the opposite. For some purposes, suckering, or thorns, or house eating, might be positive traits. Maybe if one listed one's priorities, then assigned each one less weight as one went down the list? Like... (1) Mildew resistance (0-10 points) (2) Fragrance quality (0-9 points) (3) Blackspot resistance (0-8 points) (4) Rebloom (0-7 points) (5) Bloom form (0-6 points) (6) Intensity of fragrance (0-6 points) (7) Bloom color (0-5 points) (8) Drought tolerance (0-5 points) (9) Shade tolerance (0-4 points)... Or whatever.

Pharaoh - after reading all the replies I'm convinced I'm way under watering. So I hope to correct that starting this week. Thank you! Lonnie - that's pretty hot! But we're not much far behind sometimes in temps. I guess my micro-climate is quite different from other S CA locations. I wish I have dappled shade after 2pm because our afternoon sun is so intense! :( Hopefuly watering more will help. Beachplant - I only have a few pots in the gritty mix. I had only tried it once and it was too much physical labor for me to handle so I stopped. Those in the gritty mix get watered every 2-3 days. The ones in 1 gallons are watered twice a week. It's the 5 Gal (which most of my plumeria are in) and up that get watered once a week. So I will have to increase watering accordingly. Will report the results later. Thanks!

Leave them. The leaves will drop naturally in a week or 2, but it will use those leaves to get as much food and energy from the sun as possible. Plus I dont think that its heathy for plumerias to bleed too much (which occurs everytime a leaf that is funtioning is broken). I dont think that if a plumeria bleeds it will be bad for its health, but too much of it might slow its growth a bit. -Alex

Sunburn for sure. Plants from a hot house burn easily when they go out into the dry, hot local air. The plant will be ok. Just put it under a larger plant to filter the sun for a week or so and ease it out into the full sun. Bill
