spots on American persimmon leaves

Hello,

In the spring of 2009 I planted a few seeds from a nearby American persimmon. The tree I collected the seeds from is on a college campus and at least 40 feet tall. The fruit are OK, but nothing special, and I'm guessing it's not a named cultivar.

The seedlings are about 4 feet tall, growing in acidic clay soil, partial sun exposure, zone 6.

3 of the 4 developed extensive spots on the leaves at the end of the summer, while the fourth one, just a couple feet away, is perfectly clear:

You can get an idea from this last picture how close the clear tree is to the affected trees (sick leaves visible on let side of picture)

The pictures were taken a couple weeks ago.

The spots never became rough or necrotic. Is this just regular persimmon leaf spot? Is the clear tree just lucky?

I was planning on using just one of these seedlings for grafting, so I'm not that concerned, but I'd like to keep this from turning into a problem. I'll make sure to gather all the leaves, clear the mulch, and lay down fresh mulch. Is there anything else to do?

Alex
