I don't know, but they will sure wonder as they dig in areas? Why are there CA shells in TX and TN and AR rocks in CA and HI sand on the east coast. They will wonder what they used those big tall glass things for, maybe to smoke something, lol. What kind of flood put a boat on top of a hill. What are those things with the 3 holes in them with glass or pottery all over them. And if we could listen, we would really laugh.

I have already seen mosaics using old CDs that were very cool. I think a TV as a planter or terrarium would be very interesting. I have heard of people clipping off the keys of old typewriters to use in mosaics so I don't know why computer keyboards wouldn't be any different. Some homeowners in the Milwaukee, WI area have taken to cutting up old car bodies and partially burying them in their yards as sculptures. I also like those plastiorgans that someone posted the link to that made noise makers out of plastic bottles. It will be interesting to see what people come up with.

Very interesting thoughts - we're creating time capsules now and don't even know it.

My grandfather paid some men to come at night with the city trash to fill in his lot in town in the very early 1900's. (tsk tsk that was a bad thing he was doing! lol) So many years later when we were young we were digging up old medicine bottles and salt cellars and different little things. This post reminds me of that! Even here at this old house I'm living in, I grew up here,and before they had trash pick-up in recent years,we had our own trash pile out back in the woods where my father burned the trash. One day someone will be digging up who knows what out there.

Unfortunately when we dug our pond we found a NOT SO OLD dump! Mostly construction debris like concrete,glass and linoleum. Cost us $1500 to have it hauled to the dump!NASTY!
I was thinking of our old graanies and there stoves,Had we tried to tell them about microwave ovens they would declare us insane! I figure my children's grandkids will have a cook gun.They will aim it at whatever they want to eat and pop! Ready in a second! Then they will fill the antique microwaves with flowers ,or other intersting items.

We have property on the river and the banks were quickly eroding. We bummed tombstones from the local quarries(misspells, etc) and used them as bulkheading of a sort, eventually covered them in soil and planted marsh grasses to protect the shoreline. Throughout the time we had goats there as well, as each would pass away, the kids and I would have a service for them and bury them nearby. I often wondered years and years from now when someone is researching the area and uncovers the stones and the bones IF they will speculate about WHAT kind of creatures that were buried in THAT graveyard......

OR WHY we honored our goats with tombstones, etc......

Sistersunnie,you reminded me of my children burying their poor ol' pets down in the gully...they called it their "pet sematary", and would say imagine somebody finding these 100 years from now!

Mine decided when their pet canary died that they would honor it with an exotic service (part egyptian part indian) anyway they built a casket and a floating mini barge and launced dear petie down the river. What they didnt tell me was they also set the "pyre" on fire. Least they didnt tell me till it drifted back to shore and set the marsh on fire!

If my two teenage sons are any indication of the future.....there will be no digging, creating, finding....there will only be sitting at the computer simulating, fighting, conquering, and conversing. Sigh......

We really need to come up with a artful use of old computers and gaming systems. They will soon overtake the world!

I know if I "pass my stuff" down to my son - he won't appreciate them. I think they switched my son with another baby in the hospital - my son doesn't have a lick of creativity or ANY artistic ability. This can't be ! LOL
Oh well ........ if my "stuff" doesn't live on -- the funny of stories of mom using junk for crafts will ! :)

I think that my "Jetson" descendants will have hydroponic gardens. They will use the LCD screens that they found in the recycle trash center to make viewscreens that play slide shows of all the really old junk (artifacts) that was used in the old fashioned gardens.. ( using OMG "dirt" ) They will not really understand what the items were, nor their uses .. but, hopefully they will remember us old timers and thank us for saving a bit of history.
