My first totem - Glass Garden Girl

I made my first totem!

What do you think of it?

I would like to find one or two more pieces to add to it and maybe something flat for a base.

Thank you Purplemoon, Luckygal, andluna llena feliz, the brim on her hat is actually a clear glass salad plate, but I liked the design on it and you couldn't see it very well, so I painted the actually top of the plate with red enamel, I didn't even SEE the hat brim until I set it on top of that vase, then the wheels started to turn! FAST! LOL We had a frost last night and one of the first things my hubby did was be sure my totems were secured in the garage! What a guy! A warning to you all, I have two more on the workbench drying right now! will be outside soon and pics to follow!

That turned out lovely! You should be proud of it. I was going to ask same thing as Jeanne did, did you hit save after you rotated it? I've never had a problem with Photobucket and used it for years. Sometimes when I rotate one there, in my album it still looks sideways till the NEXT time I open it. But its been rotated fine. I actually hit "replace original" instead of "save a copy", not that it matters. So, are you planning your next totem? The darn things are like potato chips. LOL. hugs, Karen

Adorable!! Love the colors for her!! My Garden Ladies have so far been clear.

You definitely will need something flat and large on the bottom to keep her from being tipped over. I mostly use microwave trays that I pick up at GW. They can be covered with mulch or dirt.

Here are a couple of my Garden Ladies that I've covered the bottom plates on. Seal well with silicone, so they don't sweat. Ladies don't like to sweat! LOL Mine are a couple of years old and holding up well. I do take them in for our winters here in Ohio.

They're a lot taller than they look here! LOL Poor angle...and a tall planter! Poor lighting too...you hardly even notice the little one in the top part of the planter!

Love those blue/green pieces you found! You will definitely need some hefty piece for the bottom. Hopefully, your area of the country isn't like mine where the microwave plates are hard to come by. I always wonder if our thrifts throw them away because I never see one. I also liked someone's else's idea of using punch bowls. Now those are pretty plentiful around here.

Gorgeous pieces. Perfect for the garden. I agree with Sunny, add a piece at bottom to keep her from toppling over.

Oh, that's a gorgeous totem, really attractive colors and composition - and your FIRST!!! Can't hardly wait to see what you do next!

Just when I thot I might quit making totems I'm reminded of garden girls - haven't done one of those *yet*. Guess I'm not done. ;-)
