Don't open any email that comes from lindasewandsew@hotmail.com and has 'no subject' in the title. Looks like someone is sending some junk ad mails using my acct. I will close it and get a new email very soon. Linda

Have you contacted the Garden Web/ People ?
Yesterday... I had to have my daughter do some things
to my computer... it was attacked by 2 different things.
I am Not very Wise on this Computer/ Hacking stuff...
but it is scary and I hear that if it is certain
virus that it can eat up all your files.

So the browning is oxidation, which is why acid helps, as in the lemon juice (or juice run out of your tomato), It sounds like the onion is just in the container, not pressed up against the cut side, which means that the gassing out of the onion is probably what's doing the trick, but I don't have time to research. While the fancy holder is nice, it's just pressing up against the cut side, keeping out the air. That's what leaving the pit in does too--keeps out the air. If you don't care for plastic but are okay with silicone, the holder is perfect. The covered ones also help protect the whole thing from whatever it bumps into. But if you don't have a pod you can just use plastic wrap. Press the plastic carefully flat against the cut side and twist around the back to keep it tight, then put it in a container or baggie. Floral, worry not about the windfalls. The squirrels will eat them. They won't go to waste. I live in avocadoland, including several trees I "planted" when I was three and my mother let me play with the pits. We never have frost. There are all kinds of things y'all grow which I've only seen in books. What I've been hankering for lately, and used to be available at the local chain grocery before the pandemic, is rambutan. They definitely do not grow here. When I was young, I saw (adjusted to today's value) a what would now be $30 pineapple at a Christmas market in Germany. I was appalled. They're currently $3.79 each at the local store, and they're not local, although they can grow here, unlike the rambutan. Sometimes, an apple is a better choice all around.

So many good recipes. All those crock-pot recipes have been up-dated for the insta-pot. Japanese curries use chicken, potatoes and vegetables. The madras brand curry in the tin works fine. Marbella does well in a insta. Taco stew is a goodie that can be a meal day one as a salad. Day two ,three, tacos and/or burritos, breakfast burritos adding re-fried beans, rice, fried eggs or scrambled. Day four, add more stock for a tortilla soup with tortilla chips. Nacos?. Recipe, taco stew (blog uses shopping suggestions using a brand of cans but just a guide) Any vegetables on the 'like' list would work. Unless she does not like tacos, lol. All around the NYU and Colombia campus are taco and burrito joints. Chipotle, etc. I know you don't like making seasoning blends but this one is easy. Maybe her mother has the basic ingredients. I would have adored an instapot at that age, especially with first apartment with two roomates. Often boyfriends made six for dinners. We were very vegetable forward and mostly made stir fry. Eggs or chicken or both. One roomate Japanese so that added to the variety. DH wondered recenly why we don't have one.(instapot). We do, but i took it to the beach house, used once, and back in the box. (he has no memory of using it). I must have made a moose stew with house guests. Perfect for stews. Previously i used a crock pot. Instapot is better. No judgement, i do like it, but just not the way i cook now. I especially like that the cooking insert is stainless and not teflon. Rest of the meal into the fridge, and another few meals can be re-heated. I'm guessing she will get a few meals from her mother that she likes.

If it's just for housekeeping, I don't see why caulk doesn't work. You may have made a "chamfer" bead sitting on top the wood, which is why it peeled off. I would fill the gap and not have the caulk extend above the wood surface. Dark colorized caulk (not painted), so it looks just like it does now, which is preferable IMO to a "scribed" look of flooring.

MXK3 . You got a onr major pro on you side ....right. It's established. Root system is sufficient enough to hold the stem/blooms in place without any stake. On my LL standards, it took a solid 3-4 years of staking to get it a place where it can hold the heavy *top*. In year 3-4, even had to stake and put some tension as it was -started to lean- quite a bit in the direction of the sun. On the left stem in the pic, if I saw a bud on the lower portion of it, I would consider cutting off the 2 laterals and hoping you get nice strong growth coming out of the thicker stem. Maybe -forget about the blooms this year* and depening on new growth, cut the stems back in half mid-season to get additional set of stems for more framework. If you get a bloom later in the season, great. If not, LL trees IMO are not expensive at the nursery and obviously has a full rounded branching....although it will require staking for a few years so that the root system can basically hold the hold thing in bloom Side note - for years, I've always looked at it as the the energy always tends to flow to the top and all growth will always focus as high as the tops of the stems are. But every now and then....not often, will I get a new stem come out from way below the stem on any of branching (new stem almost as down as the top of the leader). For those in this thread, how often have you seen new stems spawn from lower older stems. when existing multiple laterlas, new blooms etc exist on the same stem.

Hi Linda, I got 1 yesterday & deleted it as soon as I read it. It had spelling mistakes & says you had just bought a lap top computer. Said you just love it. Didn't sound right at all!! Sorry someone got to you. When I send an email to someone I always put the address of people I'm sending to down under BCC so that only the 1 person that gets it gets their own address & mine, not all my friends. Don't know if that helps! But I think that is what you do also, don't understand hacking much!! My computer is working OK so don't think it did harm. Jan

Ack! I know how it is to be hacked. It really sucks. I don't know how many times I have had to reformat my hard drive because some fiend got into my computer. Thanks for letting us know Linda!

HI LINDA, They have screwed up my computer, I can't even get on my email & on GJ I can't scroll down, have to use mouse to move the page. So your computer may get screwed up also. Thought I better let you all know!! Started last night on GJ & this morning on email. Jan

Got that crazy email from you, too. Good thing there was no virus on it.

Sorry this happened to you. Wish there was some way you could find out who did it and get the guy.

When someone replied to my hot_mail, the dastardly message was there. Now when I hit 'new message', the thing is on the email before it's even addressed. I haven't had time to close the acct, because it's a pain to collect the addresses without sending them directly to another. This thing seems to affect hot_mail and yahoo. I googled it and see a lot of 'it's not us, must be the other guy' answers. I wouldn't have known it was sent, except there were 12 delivery failures (maybe I should weed out old addresses once in awhile, lol), and 4 messages from people I know asking if it was bogus. It didn't show up in my sent mail, even though it was apparantly sent to every one on my contact list. If they can do this, they can do a lot worse. Don't accept anything from my hot-mail acct. I'll close the acct and post a new address here soon. Linda

Linda, I am not a computer expert but I have been using computer for more than 20 years.... It sounds as if you have a big problem on your hands... If you are not computer savvy it would be a very good idea to take your computer in for a check up.

I can offer some suggestions so it doesn't happen again...

1. NEVER EVER post your e-mail address on a message board or Blog... The bad guys have programs that scan the entire internet for e-mail address... ( some just look for the @ in an address such as someone@something.com but there are other programs that look for at as in someone-at-something.com. )

2. NEVER EVER open e-mail from someone you don't know... It may look harmless but all it takes is 1 kb of info to destroy your computer.

3. NEVER EVER download anything from a site if you're not entirely sure that it is 100% safe...

4. NEVER EVER click on a pop-up that says your computer is infected and they have the 'cure'.... Hit the X to close the pop-up... ( unless you KNOW it is from your current virus protection program or your current spyware protection program ) Nine times out of ten whatever it downloads will put bad stuff on your computer.... Personally I never open ANY pop-ups, for any reason, I always click the X to close it.... ( then I close my browser, clear the cookies, delete the files and clear history. )

Those 4 things won't keep you 100% safe but they will slow the bad guys down quite a bit... lol

And thank you for giving everyone the heads up about getting e-mail from your Hot Mail account!!!!!!!

P.S. Please don't send any attachments from that e-mail address... You may want to hold off sending any attachments, from any e-mail address, until you have your computer checked out.

Thanks Rita, I'll get the computer checked out in the next couple of days. I'm not using that acct at all and will close it as soon as I write down the addresses I want to keep. I'm afraid to send them anywhere, so will copy them the old fashioned way.

I'll get a new address and not post it out in the open here. This dell email from someone's email that I know. I've gotten it twice in several months and didn't think much of it.

Jan, I hope that this didn't cause your computer problems. I've so far only had it send the emails out. We did a malware scan and found nothing, but will see when it's checked. Linda

Linda, The next day I emailed you, everything was normal again. Sometimes it is hotmail or firefox that do weird things. I can even scroll down on here!! Jan

Linda, if you're using Windows, you can Copy and Paste the e-mail addresses to Notepad without any ill effects.

If your malware/spyware program is up to date and the scan came up clean you might not have been hacked... It could just be someone spoofing your e-mail address... ( there are ways the bad guys can send mail and make it look as if it's coming from you ) Did your virus checker come up with anything?

is it a long, involved process to "get rid of cookies", etc.? i'm not very computer savvy and have never done this but keep hearing (reading) that it should be done.

Rita, Thanks for the info about moving my addresses. I had a virus a few months back that caused a lot more problems than this one. My virus scanner didn't come up with anything for this. The updates are current on this computer. It seems to be one of those spoofs, and just looks like it's coming from me. No one can tell me how to actually remove it from my email, so it will be closed soon.

Maggie, We set my computer to erase cookies, etc. every time it's shut off. DH knows how to do that. If you have a neighbor kid, around 8 yrs. old or so, he can probably show you how, lol.
