ugly lamp birdbath/totems

The Habitat for Humanity TS threw this blue lamp in the trash for me to rescue, DH didn't think it had much potential either, now it's one of his favorites. The totems, I call "Baby Buddah in a Bubble and Jesus in a Jar", no offense to anyone. The Jesus one is for my friends prayer garden and I think I will keep the other, he is not really a Buddah, just a little oriental guy. {{gwi:179315}} {{gwi:179316}} {{gwi:179317}}

Here I had thought of making a totem, but never thought of making a birdbath totem. I think I'll make a shallow version to put in my herb garden for the butterflies. I check this forum every day, but I never post much. I've been real busy with a major makeover to the outside of our house (roof, siding, doors, windows, painting), so I haven't had time for gardening and crafts this year. I'm taking some vacation from work in a couple of weeks, and I will definitely make time to create one of these birdbaths.

Lucky cousin and lucky birds! I agree with marlenee_2008 on the balance of the pieces. The colors are very pretty too - subdued so they don't take away from neighboring flowers but still a pretty neutral tone to be able to stand out on its own. I also like all the different textures. What a great idea to use a glass light shade for the bowl and to use a crystal knob to plug it up! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm so sorry about all the problems and breakage on the red one. Awful for that happen. But it looks nice now. I do like Tasy on some of mine. And definitely let them all set over-night before I move any. That birdbath is absolutely GORGEOUS. I love, love, love it. What great colors! Hmmm, you gave me some ideas for hummingbird glass feeders. (I think that cobalt bottle I recently showed with the metal hanger must've been one). But I found a large round multicolored globe in a neat copper holder and been trying to figure how to do something with the bottom so I could hang it. Thank you for inspiration. hugs, Karen

Love, love love your "glass sculptures" :) I personally wouldn't tell people how you make them in the handout. Although, I think it's a great idea to include care instructions. Your kittos are so cute, your Cookie looks just like my Matt Dillon, and Yankee resembles my Miss Kitty. Good luck on your sales, I think you'll do great! Is it an auction? If you are setting prices, could you give us an idea of what you're asking? I have a sale coming up in october, which is, I'm afraid a little late in the season for totem sales. Mine range in price from 9-15, with most of them being 12.00. I don't have any on poles, mine all set on the ground. Again, thanks for sharing all of your wonderful pictures! gail

The birdbath lamp is beautiful!! The bowl is little deep but you can put a few stones in the center for birds to stand on, the bowl is very nice also, guess it was ceiling light or maybe salad bowl?? Nice work! Jan

I like what you did with the rejected lamp. It is actually very pretty as a totem. Our local Restore charges an arm and a leg for lamps. You would think they were selling new ones. I love the Buddha and Jesus totems too. I always like the figurines captured in a clear glass piece. Jesus in a jar ... I like it! It just goes to show that Jesus is great no matter where He is. ;^)

Thanks. Kathy, our Restore over charges for everything too, but I they always have a good trash stack outside. Mayme, my friend has a corner of her yard with a bench and some garden prayers on signs,(she is a true artist)and some chimes, just a place she can concentrate on prayers. And sunnyca, I plan to put some white stones for the birds,DH said this was silly,but I explained how GJs are really concerned with safety.
