one totem, one birdbath, one.... I'm not sure .....But I like it!

The one I am not sure about is an old hummingbird feeder, with out the feeder, I don't know what to call it. I found at GW the bottle "Luna Luna" red enamel I think, th eonly thing I could find that even came close to the colors on the feeder. It has a loop on top made of glass. It looks hand blown. I plan to hang it in one of my trees. It looks really cool. I want to add a small plate on the bottom of the bottle and some hanging crystals.

The Red Totem was a nightmare....First I took the lamp I made apart and added the other red vases I had to it. I wanted a really tall totem this time. It was 4' tall when I finished. Then...It fell and broke two pieces the topper and the base of the margarita glass on top, I took apart and cleaned and started again, I decided I like the way the Margarita glass looked on to so I kept it as it was, then I tried to move it and it wasn't cured yet and ......you guessed it It fell again, this time breaking the other globe Between the bottom two vases. Start Over again......This is what I ended up with. I am still not real happy with it but I do not want to start again. I have decided to glue some pieces the night before so I can be sure that they are solid. LOL

the Birdbath is for a friend, she gave me the shallow bowl and asked if I could make a birdbath for her. I wasn't sure about gluing the ceramic stuff but it worked! The base is four different sized candle holder pedestals. I think it turned out pretty kewl! Total cost for the whoe thing is $3.00 plus my time.

That green is my favorite. It is a soft sagey natural hue that is so soothing,

Have a grand time Glenda! I have a friend who played piano at the place I used to frequent in Indian Rocks Beach,FL. He played there for years before he retired from the Post Office. Then, 3 yrs ago-became an entertainer on the Royal Caribbean in the Lounge. He & his wife love the 'cruise life' and they just arrived in Tampa a couple days ago from Austrailia. They sail back out again in mid-Feb. IF you happen to be on his ship-his name is Kelly Goodrich and he does awesome medleys of Elton John, Elvis, etc...props & all. Great music, vocals and FUN! Okay, DH and I (and PB) finally came to an accord. After talking to the PB again, we are going with brick coping. We chose the bullnosed greystone color. It is very similar to the gray flagstone we had picked which had black in it and was a little sparkly. Greystone has black specks and is not a flat black color. PB said he would do the flagstone for $400 over brick, but he didn't recommend it because he has seen a lot of people cut from it, and it is quite rough around the pool edge. One of the reasons DH wanted to leave the fiberglass exposed was to have a smooth surface to back up to on the benches. I can see someone slicing themselves on that stone. Flagstone would not be smooth without extra expense to smooth the edges (not included in the cost). I know I said I didn't want brick, but I didn't realize that gray was a color option. Most pics I have seen are red...although I did like jescat's cream color. The gray goes better with our dark blue pool. I have looked for pics of it on the forum but cannot find any. Now I am finally set for Monday.

My husband died on December 19, 2008. His funeral was the 23rd - This is my fourth Christmas without him. Any real joy in the holidays died with him - it will always been the anniversary of the saddest week of my life. Since then, I've also become estranged from one of my daughters, due to her mental illness and alcoholism. Today was quiet - son and I shared a turkey dinner I cooked. No tree, no presents, no decorations - one grandson called briefly, said he was "making the rounds" and would be over soon - never showed up. I told son if he had not been with me today, I would have been totally alone all day - might as well have just been any old day. Next year I'm seriously considering just taking a cruise over the holidays - never been on one, so maybe it's time to see what that's like. The secret is to not have very high expectations of the day.

Way to cool for words. Super nice really big tell your friend it's called. The walking Sanserveria IIRC it's Cv is of the cylindrica type. Pretty easy to root ( yours already has some roots already started ) and just as easy to grow. Not alot of posting going on in there but you may want to ask for more specifics in the Sanserveria forum. Thank - you and your donating friend for showing ( all of us here) such a wonderful Sans specimen.

Love that sage green birdbath, your friend is very lucky!

The red one is lovely also, sorry you had problems. I have always taken my time with totems and even when they are finished I don't move them for several days or several weeks sometimes.

Good idea to hang some small totems from trees. I'll have to see where I can do that. Thanks for sharing.

Very Nice! I really like the birdbath. When I make tall totems, I don't try to glue all the pieces at once - instead I'll glue sets of two pieces together and let the silicone dry. Then I'll glue the "sets" together. It takes longer, but it's easier to get them to stand straight and less likely to topple before you're done.

I'm so sorry about all the problems and breakage on the red one. Awful for that happen. But it looks nice now. I do like Tasy on some of mine. And definitely let them all set over-night before I move any.
That birdbath is absolutely GORGEOUS. I love, love, love it. What great colors!

Hmmm, you gave me some ideas for hummingbird glass feeders.
(I think that cobalt bottle I recently showed with the metal hanger must've been one). But I found a large round multicolored globe in a neat copper holder and been trying to figure how to do something with the bottom so I could hang it. Thank you for inspiration.

I have had issues like you did. Was in a hurry to see the final piece. My tallest was 34". We need to learn patience?????? which I tend to forget, when we start to build our totems taller. Yours turned out wonerful tho. I like them all.

Great Job Shabbychic! Love the birdbath...your friend will too I'm sure. I have found that taping pieces when you're working on a tall totem helps too. But, I'm like Tasymo..I usually glue them in two parts, then put them together. I did drop a rose totem the other day though and broke it...but DH glued it back together again! ;-)

I like the green on too. But they are all pretty. Your friend could even use it for a candy dish! Great job!!
