I have had a similar delay with them. They never failed to send one eventually and they never lost an order. I wish they would upgrade their webpage to a more modern one which allows you to see past orders, status, etc.

I just ordered an apple tree from them today for spring delivery, a gift for my father in another state, and got a confirmation almost immediately.

I've had no problems. But do call. My experience is that they're plenty helpful on the phone.

No confirmation yet from Raintree, I just sent 3rd e mail. My CC statement shows charge on September 5. I just got back and I will call them later today. The new growing site is ready and waiting.

I ordered several times from them and had no problems. Some orders for bareroot get shipped out at a different times. They are fairly reasonably priced compared to some others and have a good selection. There is also a nursery called Burnt Ridge Nursery. Their prices are way lower but they are way slower to deliver than Raintree. Product is good and also they have quite an inventory.

Ace, try calling. I have not found them completely reliable by email.

I called them today 1 pm EST, they will mail the invoice. Raintree homepage says fall shipment but they told me fruit trees are shipped in spring 09. No problem with the spring shipment, these are unique trees for my home orchard. St, Lawrence is shipping trees for the orchard we just expanded upstate. I have room in my home orchard, how good is Emerald Beaut plum?

I went out and picked one of my Emerald Beauties to check and see for you, and it was delicious. It tasted a lot like Honeydew Melons.

Are the descriptions true that say Emerald Beaut plums can hang for two months and get sweeter? Do you have pictures to post.

St Lawrence supplies cold hardy trees and they are located in upstate NY. I have St Lawrence trees at my orchard in Upstate NY and I have more ordered! Emerald Beaut along with the new Pluots and hundreds of other stone fruits were bred by Zaiger genetics in California. Don't let the name fool you the trees haven't been gene spiced but they are 'back-crossed' repeatedly until desired traits are enhanced. These new fruits are an explosion flavor and sweetness. They require long growing seasons to ripen sweet. Folks in California z9-10 with long growing seasons are challenged with pollination difficulties and cracking of the fruit. The best plums to grow in z5a in Colorado are the American Hybrid plums. Which St Lawrence grows and can deliver this fall. Superior, Alderman and Waneta are large and tasty. They ripen at different times in the summer. Emerald Beaut(Zaiger) is sold by Raintree but is probably grow by Dave Wilson's in California.

Ace, Emerald Beaut is a Wickson cross and Wickson has proven very disease-prone in my orchard and I expect the same of Emerald Beaut. In fact nearly all of the Zaiger selections fare poorly in the disease resistance category for eastern growers. If Wickson or Elephant Heart are doing OK for you on the other hand, then maybe EB will work for you as well.

scott, I got a reply from Raintree on the Emerald Beaut plum;

"Hello,
The Emerald Beaut is too new to have been tested over much of the country,
but available info says it has problems in a hot, humid summer climate
(cracking, fungus, etc.). You may want to hold off a bit until there is
better data. Have you checked with your county Cooperative Extension Service
to get their opinion? They will be able to give you the best localized
information.

scott, EB patent has been filed on 11/94. Plant patents expire after 15 years. You would think sellers would have complete data by now.

This is the first year of production for me, and I had about 5 hanging on the tree altogether (two left).

I think the one I tried for you was definitely sweeter than the one I tried about a month ago. As advertised, they are still crunchy, and still on the tree. I will probably pick the last two soon, as I worry about possums and squirrels, despite the footies I have on them. I'm not good with inserting photos, but mine look just like these Dave Wilson ones:

Well I got the invoice today from Raintree. Ordered 4 pears, Ubileen, Bella di Guigno, Hamese, Mishirasu. I had forgotten what they were. I have 24 trees ordered from various nurseries, so now I can figure out where to plant them. My Fruit trees incorporate well into the traditional landscape. Emerald Beaut is top tasting plum so it is very tempting to try to grow them. The Beaut would need a full sun spot along the driveway. I am planting a Fortune plum. Fortune was developed in San Jose and grows very well in NY. Are these gift pack EB plums worth $9 per pound?

You can see in my last post in September Raintree did get the invoice/confirmation to me and apologized. So then I ordered the Emerald Beaut and this was confirmed by e mail and the CC statement showed the additional charge. Two weeks ago I got the Raintree box with 7 trees 5 root stocks Raspberries currants strawberries, all large healthy and dormant. But they shipped a Beauty plum instead of Emerald Beaut! Today I received and planted my Emerald Beaut plum. Raintree shipped the tree at no cost. Putting my order in written e-mail did work to my advantage over just calling.
