well I got 1 sign done from collecting car tags. I think it turned out pretty cool. It's out on the fence at the road. It's our address label. thanks to Linda for paving the way for me to follow.

Hey I like the look. Saw on Craigs list I think the other day someone had some for free. Have to go back and check it out. This is cool.

I like recycling, too. When the grandchildren had outgrown the big ugly rebounder we've kept in the garden for them and we could finally get rid of it we found it hopeless to take apart the frame. So we put it around our new round trial rose bed in the same size. We will keep it there over the winter to deter deer a little, hopefully. In spring we will bury it in the ground to make an edging, or at least a mark of where the bed ends to remind us to cut the edge and stop weeds and grass from creeping in. When the roses have grown a little we'll plant a low red barberry hedge around the bed outside this ring frame.

I have abandoned my old yard that was full of sun and tons of plants. My new yard has nothing but shade. I am looking for mainly hostas, but also other shade loving plants. At this point I have nothing to trade, but am willing to drive to come help you divide your plants. I do have some yard art type stuff that I may be able to give up or I could make you a yard sign. I have a large yard and all of my funds are going into a bird habitat on the property (we refer to it as the back 50). This leaves little for my acutal yard. Please respond to leahaltig@yahoo.com

I cant see the tomato plant very well but tomatoes, especially young ones are WAY sensitive to chemical anything. Just the drift of herbicide or in your case, perhaps pesticide can damage them. I have had my seedlings damaged when someone, some neighbor sprayed. If its a light dose, they will usually outgrow it. If heavy they will put out gnarly and/or spindly growth for a long time.

"The area I live (Oak Park, IL) doesn't allow signs at all. I've always thought this was a crummy practice and (no offense to those of you out there) probably thought up by a realtor." Are any of the following Trustees Realtors? Should be easy for you to find out. (From this Realtor, their rationale does not make sense where I live, but maybe where you live) Trustees- Bode, Klem, Marshall, Philbin, Sokol and Fallon and President McClure Oak Park, IL. Village Code 13-2-3: REAL ESTATE FOR RENT AND FOR SALE SIGNS PROHIBITED: The President and Board of Trustees find as follows: A. That a prohibition of "For Sale" and "Sold" signs has been recommended by the Commission on Community Relations on the basis that said signs tend to encourage unfair housing practices and tend to defeat the purposes of the Village's Human Rights Program. B. That a prohibition of "For Rent" signs has been recommended by the Commission on Community Relations for the following reasons: 1. "For Rent" signs presently are used more frequently in areas that have a greater percentage of occupancy of minority residents. "For Rent" signs are seldom used in connection with buildings that have no minority occupants. The use of these signs therefore tends to "signal" that minorities may be more welcome in some areas of the Village than others and this tends to segregate areas contrary to the policy of the Village to maintain an integrated community. 2. A proliferation of "For Rent" signs encourages panic peddling and block busting. 3. "For Rent" signs may give an appearance of community instability when concentrated in a limited geographic area. 4. A proliferation of "For Rent" signs may infer that an area is less desirable than other areas. 5. A system of apartment management that refers tenants to the source of rentals will encourage greater professionalism in apartment management. It shall, therefore, be unlawful for any person to construct, place, maintain or install a "For Sale", "Sold" or "For Rent" sign on any property developed for residential use in the Village. The term "For Sale" sign shall include signs carrying the following or similar words: "Open House" or "Open for Inspection" and shall include any other devices placed on the property to indicate that the property is for sale. In the case of new construction of residential property or conversion of an existing structure to condominium use where a condominium declaration is recorded, a "For Sale" sign shall be permitted on the property until the property or condominium units are sold, but not to exceed one and a half (1 1/2) years after issuance of a certificate of occupancy for a new building or from the date the "For Sale" sign is posted in the case of a conversion. Where do you get license plates?
I thought there was a law that says license plates have to be turned in when the car is sold or junked, which would mean old plates are hard to come by.
Assuming most people follow that law. ;)
That sign reminds me of something I saw somewhere in SW USA - a house decorated with lots of old license plates. That was pretty neat to see.

Wow!! What a great sign! If that's your property behind the fence, you're going to need a lot more plates, lol.

JoAnn, If you email me, I'll send you my license plate guy's info. He's the best and his prices are very good!I've been using him for awhile, and it's nice to not have to hunt for plates. Linda

We have 14 acres ..so yes I need lots of them
were working on some now, it's just hard to cut them up. I really like this first one cause we have one grandchild and one on the way. that's my stars that fell :)
JoAnn I'm sure it's true about the tags go with the car when sold...it is very hard to find tags on your own. but the guy Linda hooked me up with was a great help. thanks again Jutes

Jutes, what a cool address sign! Love the "Stars fell on" part at the top.

On another note, not all states require one to turn in their plates or they aren't kept on the vehicle when it is sold. In Wisconsin, you can keep your plates and pretty much do what you want with them (except put them on a vehicle without paying the registration fee that is!).

You did a super job on your sign. I love how it turned out.
I have my old plate as here in AZ, they don't require them turned in I guess. I had gotten a vanity plate last year and was surprised when they didn't want my regular one back.

Love it, love it!!! What a great job! I love it on your fence and ditto for the "stars fell on" one, that was a super choice! BTW, LOOOOVVVEEE your scenery behind there, looks like a piece of heaven feel there, too! What a picture perfect setting, kinda dreamy!

Love the way you did this--it turned out really cute. I like that the strips are up and down--not exactly lined up alike. Linda has a very creative mind and loves to share her ideas. Glad you figured out a way to use this one. Luvs

i like your sign jutes. here in sc we're in the process of changing over to a new tag. i think we were required to return them (although lots of folks don't)but since we're changing tags maybe we'll get to keep them.

drakekelbel yes we have used the snips but it's hard to do ...at least for me , so we started cutting them on the band saw, it made it so much more easier and faster. we have more made but I don't want to show them until we get them hung...waiting on DH....uggggg. hope to show them soon. great vintage collection .
