photos of fairy and gnome garden area

I've been slow at getting my photos taken and downloaded. Will put the pix in two posts tho, there are 13 of them. I hit GW on half off day and got some of the goodies. Plus I rearranged the gnome garden a bit, and added a larger fairy area to front side of it. The gnomes have been on the back side. A few weeks ago I had hung three "flying" fairies on the tree trunk, and then realized in the garage waiting for a 'home' was another 3 that go on the ground and are just the same size. Plus I had a St Francis I loved and didn't know where to put, from a Joann's sale awhile back. So he's out there as he goes with the two cobalt totems in that area. Hope y'all enjoy.

Love your gnomeville except,,,,is that an asparagus fern?OWCH! I think the flamingo should be eating form St Frances" basket! LOL

Why am I thirsty for some tea? he-he Love all the fun and magical whimsy in your secret garden. Your totems are so pretty too. It looks like you could spend an hour looking at your garden and not see everything - there is something hiding behind every corner. Keep the photos coming! They certainly bring a smile to my face.

It is a sunflower, I had the hollow piece of wood in front of my stairs last winter with pine boughs and berries and ribbon with a string of lights when I took them out in the spring I thought wow that would go in the gnome garden and hubby bought me the sunflower It was a lot of work still needs edging but it was worth it when I see the end result on the one end are my hens and chicks and anything I had with roosters on it

See if your library has a copy of Tracy Kane's book, Fairy Houses, which is the first in a series. Nice story, lovely illustrations, inspiration for children and adults alike. At our park we have an event every June (as close to Midsummer's eve as I can make it) in which children (aided by adults, and I don't know who really has more fun) build fairy houses in the gardens using only natural materials. No staples, wire, glue, etc. We read Tracy Kane's book first, for inspiration, and review the fairy building codes (never pick or otherwise harm anything growing, and only use artificial materials) before going outside to build. After about 90 minutes of building, we tour the "community" and the children can tell about their houses while we hand out "fairy food" (bird seed mixed with different colored split peas), which is served up in seed pods. Anyone is welcome to stay as long as they like, of course, but they're usually finished and happily pick up coloring sheets with pictures of different fairies and a handout on how to create a fairy garden at home (which, coincidentally, is also friendly to butterflies and beneficial insects) as they leave their creations behind. Some come back later in the week to visit; most visitors often find them charming. The houses - or remains thereof after the forces of nature have had their way with them - remain in place for at least a week. We've held three such events now, and I'm still amazed at the originality and creativity displayed.

I LOVE IT ALL!!!! The gnome area looks so realistic! Reminds me of the story of Rip Van Winkle! I love your display! Love the cobalt blue totem and area! The fairies make it look magical, like a fantasy world. Just beautiful. Kirk

I love the gnome garden,you have some cute ones,and the mushrooms and little animals go together so well. And I love those fairies by the tree,too. If my 25 year old daughter saw the gnomes,she'd have the same reaction I'd have if I saw a snake, I don't know why she's terrified of them!! I like your St. Francis, all the ones I've seen are white and plain,like the one I have,lol.

Thank you, Everyone. Golden, yes that's a very old asparagus fern. LOL. I sat the pot on a tree stump. St Francis is supposed to be a little birdfeeder, so you were right about the Flamingo should be eating there. However, the fairy by him is admiring his bead necklace, so he's happy with her. LOL.
Kudzu, I don't recall anyone with a fear of gnomes but maybe they remind her of the creepy Trolls that live under rocks and bridges! I like the gnomes that have the sweet little "old man" faces like these. Some gnomes don't have the mustache and their beards are under their chins instead of on it, and I don't like their faces as well for some reason.
Kirk, you're too sweet calling that area "magical". That's what I wanted it to be but my family doesn't quite get it of course. It really is garden JUNK to them. My 4 littlest grandkids think it's cool tho, while the others all do the eye-rolling thing. I don't care, I'm having fun with my silly little garden areas.

Karen, I love your gnome area! The door, the gate, the tree stumps, the mushrooms and all the little critters are just so perfect with the gnomes.

Having some fun collecting and displaying is the important part. Some people "get it", and some don't---just enjoy yourself. ;o) Luvs
